I think the most I’ve worked without a day off has been like 21 days, maybe? When I was salaried of course, so no OT. We’d have a remodel that would have to be completed in the 12 weeks no matter what, so if we somehow ended up falling a couple weeks behind, we’d be stuck staying at the hotel and working over the weekends to get caught up.
At the same time, we would have a slow period with no remodels going on, and I’d be given lots of “computer based learning” days where I would sleep in and do absolutely nothing at home. Even drove to the beach for a week during that. 😛
With my current job, I’m hourly, so they definitely want me to take my two days off each week. I get enough OT working over everyday on those five days I’m already working. I’ve worked 11 days in a row with my current job, but that was just poor scheduling at the time. Worked a six day work week with a day off at the beginning of the week, and then worked a five day work week with the two days off at the end of it. I try not to schedule anyone like that. It sucks.
I've never worked 7 days. 6 is the max. I needed a break from work AND the people there lol
Congrats to you @Bizdustry.com ! You seem to enjoy this new job & that is what matters 🙂
No, I've never worked 7 days in a row. I've worked 12 hours for probably a 5 day work week (then there's the addition of the 3 plus hours total commute) and that was exhausting but I got paid a boat load of money for being freelance and gobbled it up 😀
At my current job, there was one point where we were working 6 days a week and getting overtime because we were doing a complete remodel of the store. But I've never had to work 7 days a week. I don't think I could handle doing 7 days a week. When people are constantly asking you questions all day and the phone rings off the hook all day.......you need a break.
At my precious job, I use to work 12-14 hour days, 7 days a week. I worked for a company answering phones. Essentially, we were the closest thing to 911 there is, with actually being 911. I was very good at that job and I loved it.
My old man works in fire & protection safety and he works 7 days a week, 12-13 days.
I'm a Paramedic at a Trauma Center. I work part-time night shift. I haven't had a day off since the Pandemic hit. They have denied all vacation request "until further notice." They also aren't hiring new employees right now. As someone else mentioned, you just get used to it. It also helps that I love my job.
I probably wouldn't be able to handle working 7 day periods for too long. The last time I worked somewhere, where I didn't have any breaks in the middle of it, I ended up developing 2 bone spurs on my feet.
