I finally and rather successfully learned how not to be poor after 60 years of being poor.
Many years ago I was persuaded to take out a pension mortgage which turned out to be a total lemon. To cut a long and rather painful story short I found I was able to dictate how the pot of money was invested and I convinced myself that I could do better than the professionals employed to manage the fund.
Either by luck or judgement it turned out I was right. I put most of the pot into tech companies associated with AI such as Nvidia which on its own earned me enough to buy a property outright and leave enough for me never to need to work again.
I don't want to be responsible for people losing money, everyone tells me I got lucky but I would say it pays to think outside of the box. Do your own research. Just because everyone else thinks one way it doesn't always make them right. Sometimes it's the outliers that hit the big time.
