World News and Debate

Do you think these two sections deserve their own section or do you think they should be subforums?

I would do a debate forum with a world news sub-forum.

Depends upon what kind of forum you have. If it's a GD forum, then both should be forums. If it's just an off topic section, then go for World News Forum, debate subforum. In fact, I'd even just merge them because world news is a major topic for debate anyway....

I am starting a new site which is webmaster/promotion and I don't think they should be merged together... whilst some items in the news are good for debates not all are necessarily.

Just be careful that you don't have too many subforums when you are just starting out... That's all.

What about a forum for Tech / Internet / Webmaster news and then add the debate forum as a sub-forum of your General Chat / Off Topic forum?

Well I don't see many debates going on anywhere and you see world news everyday so world news a main forum and debates subforum.

For a promotion forum, I'd just rename the board something like " Whats going on in the world ? " and indicate in the description it's for debating or posting news.

Having all these different boards on a site not even meant for general discussion is not a good idea.
