so what is the worst forum software i would say that punBB is the worst software i don't even join forums made by punBB

you can also choose free forum creators like forumotion or terrible ones you can think of

Invisionfree

People just need to give it up....

Actually, Invisionfree isn't the worst by any means, though it isn't that great either.

Proboards is the worst, hands down. While I would join an InvisionFree forum if it interested me, I'd never join Proboards save for this exception - if their forum had a good concept and was active, I'd offer to host them on my own server space lol.

The worst in my book is Invisionfree.

yea i think proboards is at top of the worst list

I disagree there. ProBoards is easy and simple to use.

Invisionfree and ProBoards are 'decent'. Far from the greatest, but they do what they have to.

IMO, Yuku (formally known as EzBoards) is the worst. They were poor as EzBoard and worse as Yuku. With EzBoard, you had to pay for simple things like pinned threads and custom emoticons. With Yuku, you have that and ads taking over absolutely every page and post.

Plus they have their own retarded BBCode.

So yes, my vote goes to Yuku.

I just tried them and eww....

My worse would be SMF. It is just too simple. Although, I wouldn't mind it for a community type forum.

What's wrong with something being simple? I would rather something easy to use than something difficult to use.

I'm more into advanced things than phpbb that I never have made a full site with SMF as phpbb always caught my eye. 😛 I should actually try some community board with SMF though. It seems interesting even though it's simple. Their add-on installer is easy to add.

I loved invisionfree when I was on it. The orginal Proboards was good, I didnt like phpbb's when I tried it. Far to hard.

Um, SMF is widely acknowledged as being just as or more powerful than phpBB. And the installer is part of the software, not an add-on. Theming is the same way - just download the zip from their site, upload the zip to the admin panel, and hit "Install". phpBB can't hold a candle to that.

I would personally say it's more powerful. SMF can do as much as phpBB and more, and has as many mods and themes as phpBB. Historically, SMF has also been supported and upgraded a lot more, and there's a regular upgrade every couple of months. To upgrade, your admin panel will show a red box that says you need to upgrade, you click on the link given, and it installs the upgrade. Security has always been a lot better on an SMF than phpBB.

Invisionfree is no longer supported, for the most part, which makes it very outdated. Trying to get help with a problem just ends up in being ignored. They are putting all their attention on Zetaboards. And there are much better free forum hosts that run IPB 1.3, like IPBFree, which has a mod installer. I was a support admin for a long time, and dealt with a lot of IF crap.

HAHAHA. Oh, wow. How are they sill alive?

I tried Yuku when they were ezBoards. They were terrible then, they're obviously worse now.

I'm on Proboards, not really by choice as the board was already established on it when I joined and then assumed a place of command. Its drawbacks are lack of many advanced features {sub sub boards, thread previews, no backup, supposedly these things are coming in version 5, but that means v5 has to actually come out first and it's been promised as coming soon for ages now} and lack of control of your board and especially a very clunky admin control system. Powers that shouldn't be clumped together are clumped together thus forcing me to decide between ease of management and security. After what I've been through I went with security....

The up side is free and completely unlimited space as well as a decent customer support centre, as well as a strong cushioning against hacker attacks on their server--these people have quite a lot of money to provide the best, though recently there was a malware attack that filtered through into some Proboards boards through the sponsors' ads {to their credit the PB staff was on it within a couple hours to shut said ads down}. It's not the best by any means, I like whatever Dragon Cave's run on...lightning speed... XD

EZ Boards...now there was an elementary board...I remember them. Not very good.

The only thing I liked about EzBoards/Yuku was that you didn't need to re-register for each forum.

Everything else about it was very poor.
