I would pay $7 to promote my post on Facebook if I have hundreds, thousands, or millions of fans and friends on my Facebook Fanpage, and FB account which I use for promotion, and friending online friends. $7 is cheaper then paid to click advertising like Adwords, and Adbrite.
But, I probably won't use the promote feature for my personal real-life friend Facebook account since most of my real life friends are not into Forums, Blogs, or Tech website unless they are not telling me.
