I would pay $7 to promote my post on Facebook if I have hundreds, thousands, or millions of fans and friends on my Facebook Fanpage, and FB account which I use for promotion, and friending online friends. $7 is cheaper then paid to click advertising like Adwords, and Adbrite.

But, I probably won't use the promote feature for my personal real-life friend Facebook account since most of my real life friends are not into Forums, Blogs, or Tech website unless they are not telling me.

Facebook wants you to pay $7 to promote posts

Facebook's experimental "Promote" feature, released on Wednesday to a small group of U.S. users, allows you to pay Facebook to promote important pictures or announcements. Those who have access to the feature say a promoted post typically costs around $7.

Depending on the demographic I was advertising to, sure.

I wouldn't.

I don't use facebook in the first place (for a few reasons I won't get into here).

And I'm not a huge fan of any paid advertising method since to be really effective you have to pay a TON of money. (Money I just don't have... )

The whole concept of this idea is that for $7 you can promote to x amount of people who based on their interests, pages liked, etc. could possibly be interested in your advertisement, meaning you may get a few new hits. Not many people who aren't interested in forums, will like a page about forums, therefore Facebook advertising is actually a potentially good idea.

$7. Facebook. Surely you jest.

Depending on how many friends he has!! But technically I would not spend $7 as i would not know that his friends on FB would be interested in the niche of my forum!!

I would pay him $1 - $2 for the post but if i would only require some traffic !! 🙂

I wouldn't, I don't see Facebook as a good place for advertising and promotion.

\From what I've heard, Facebook does an excellent job with targeting their ads and promoted posts, matching them to pages the user has viewed on site. So it might actually be worth it, considering your target audience is already prequalified as being interested in what you are promoting.
