Believe it or not, people actually ban guns from peoples avatars on their forums. Would you allow your users to have guns in their avatars, or even signatures? Do you think it's wrong for forums to ban guns, or is this just another example of freedom of expression?
I see nothing wrong with having a gun in your avatar or signature. Though, it may depend more if it has blood and gore, then in that case it may be problematic. Otherwise, feel free and have fun expressing yourself through your avatar/signature.
As long as an avatar is "safe for work", I'd allow it. There are a few exceptions of course, but I don't think guns in themselves are all that offensive.
Yes, we allow it at my forum. We have quite a few in our avatar gallery that have screenshots/images from The Walking Dead where the characters have their guns/are aiming them.
I don't see anything wrong with that. I'm fine with something like Kik's avatar, but I don't want some sort of promotion in the images. Also, it should not contain gore.
I agree with Pandaa. I don't mind guns in avatars unless it's NSFW, but if that's the case, I don't think the gun would be the reason why the avatar would be banned. 😛
I don't see any issue with it whatsoever. Unless the image had a lot of gore/nudity in it, but in that case, the gun wouldn't be the problem, the nudity/gore would be the actual issue, not the gun.
I would allow it. If that is how they want to represent themselves why not? If they start breaking rules left and right I would reprimand them based on that - not because of their avatar choice.
I think that depends on the kind of site the avatar was in. It'd be ridiculous to ban guns in avatars on a Call of Duty or other shooting games forums, but if it's a forum about parents concerned with children's safety and it advocates anti-firearms legislation.. I'd say it's more than understandable to ban them.
