If you had the opportunity to travel to Mars but could never come back to Earth would you?
My husband and I seriously considered it one time however after looking into the colonization of Mars program they specified that volunteers could not be couples. Also, they had many other requirements like no close family or friends and also they must not be strongly opinionated.
I like my feet being on Earth with people and hospitals, wifi, phones, and all the things Mars doesn't have. 😛 Silly I know however I would not go on Mar's. I do not want to die on a red planet, I'd rather die on Earth. 😛
I would love to go to Mars, if what was provided, was a little more than up to 6 months of oxygen after getting there. I mean, common. Why would I go there, just to die?
The biggest issue regardless of me going there or not, is if the materials were provided to create a greenhouse, so that the oxygen could replace itself. If anything, that is my only concern about going there, is if they provided a way to keep living, without eventually dieing due to the lack of oxygen.
I actually had a good handful of my friends sign up to do the MarsOne project, and obviously weren't selected. However, that got me thinking!
I don't think I would go to Mars, yet. There are still many things that I want to do here on Earth. Perhaps if they get together another expedition later on in my lifetime, and I'm a good candidate, I would go. 🙂
