Would you hire a family member to manage your forum?

Do you think family members are the best candidates for managing a forum? For instance, I've considered hiring my daughter as my forum admin, once she reaches her teen years. I think it will be a good experience for her and provide valuable online experience, also experience with community management and might spark her interest in being a forum owner. What are your thoughts on hiring family members?

Nope, hiring family and real life friends means it's too easy to be too 'nice' on them and let them get away with stuff they shouldn't.

And hey, no one I know cares about forums anyway.

Hiring a family member is a very good idea. This will help your family member to gather some knowledge about forums and social communities where they can get addicted to discuss whatever they like.

I would encourage my family to get involved in my online projects as I would love them to get involved in the same area as me.

I never think about asking my family members to help manage a forum because no one else is interested, lol. Asking your siblings to help, for example, is quite a good idea, as long as they can maintain the same idea/purpose you want to bring your projects too. Otherwise it will bring a negative effect instead.

It's true that it becomes troublesome to 'punish' them if they make a mistake, though. That's the risk you should prepare to take if you want to bring them in.
