Hello all,

Will you join a business/webmaster forum that has bids with forum cash for paypal money and you can trade in forum cash for real money too if you don't want to bid but Bids will have a lower starting price.

I know that some forums has done this before and had some success. What do you think about this idea? Would you join the forum, post and bid or exchange for real cash?

Why not. I believe BusinessAdviceForum.com does this. I like the forum alot.

Yeah. Would you be active at the forum if I created one?

Probably not as forums belonging to people who depend on others promising to join before they open normally end up dead in a month or less regardless of what the genre is about.

It also speaks to the lack of faith you have in the sort of things you are planning on offering people if you need people to promise to join before you start the project. If you had faith in what you intend on offering with the forum then you would not need for people to promise to join because you are sure that they will because you feel that what you offer is going to be worthwhile for them to join, post, etc.

These type of forums usually fail. I don't think it would work out at least not for long.

Well the most important aspect of your idea is the amount of money you currently have.
For example, if you offer $1 for 1,000x (x being the forum cash), then you need $1.
But if 100 members have 1,000x and they randomly want to turn in their forum cash, you'll need $100.

Do you have enough money to support your site long term?

Probably yes. if i do get 100 active members, then my site will have some decent traffic and active members and I should be able to make some money from ads and should cover the costs.

I'm not sure. I'm in BAF for years. And my knowledge is limited to only webmasters and computers. if that forum will be something else, I might not. 😀

It should be noted that even forums with many active members have struggled to bring in cash through ads.
That's the only issue I see in this.

The main reason for paying people to post (or earn forum cash) is to get fast posts, at least that's how I see it.
However, this business model relies on the admin(s) paying out cash - Which is either out of their pocket, or from their income.

However, even with a large amount of members, the amount of cash you'll be paying out will exceed the amount you will make from advertisements.

So unless you find another way to bring in revenue, you'll be paying members with your own money.

To expand upon your idea, I'm curious as to whether it might be worth it to not just have members post on YOUR site, but on other people's sites as well. Let's theoretically say that someone will pay $1.25 for 10 posts.
So if an admin of some other forum wanted posts, they would go to you. They'd pay you $1.25 for each 10 posts, and you'd keep $0.25. The other $1 would go to the member that makes 10 posts on that admin's forum.

This business model still relies on admins paying for posts, but it is more reliable (as far as the amount of time it can be stable for) than the one you propose (UNLESS you find a way to make money, or are okay with givin out your own cash).

For the user - it won't matter (that much) where they are posting. They'll get paid.
For you - You get posts on your forum, and you also get a cut from all transactions.
For other admins - They may have to spend more, but they do not have to deal with finding paid posters. You handle that for them.

Everyone wins.

Why do you think that?

The profit you make will not equal the money you need to pay to everyone for this:

and you can trade in forum cash for real money too
in most cases.

Unless you own a vast network of sites that make profits. If that is the case you could run this type of forum with certain success. But most don't own tons of sites to financially back them up for this type of venture and therefore usually fail with this type of sites.

This is a variation of a paid to post forum in my eyes.

In anycase I hope you proof me wrong and show it can be done. 😀

It will be most likely based on webmasters and business etc and there will be topics with your knowledge.

I see what you mean and its true that it will be hard to cover to costs but I will think of more ways to generate revenue such as donations, premium membership and more. I quite like your idea about selling posts but it may be a bit hard to manage but I'll see what I can do.

Yes, this has been a problem for lots of paid to post sites and no, i don't have tons of sites to financially back me up. However, it may work if I can think of ways to generate revenue through the site itself such as forum psoting, ads, premium membership, donations, sponsors etc.
