10 or 15 years ago I would have, when the forum world was booming. Probably could have made some decent money selling forum software licenses back then.
Even if I try hard enough I would not able to get to make my own, too much work and would take years and money. Just as simple and easy to use as what we already have. Nowadays there is no point
We had members here on FP that went down this road and made their own 😉 Some failed some moved on
I'm by no means a fully fledged programmer, but I was involved with a few smaller scripts in 2015, that I'd loved to have contributed to more (if I'd had the skills.) Now though, I don't think there's much of a market for forum software, as it's overly saturated and polarised with the big competitors.
In this day and age I wouldn't want to make a new forum software. We all know that forums aren't as popular as they once were, so I think my time would be wasted if I was to look into making my own software. There's so many different platforms out there, and many of these smaller known projects usually end up being abandoned...
