If you could buy a professional review of your forum, would you pay a small amount of cash for it? What do you think would be a reasonable amount to pay, do you feel?

Thanks.

No. Not when there are so many free services around, such as the FP review service.

Well they're not free, you need to earn the forum currency to buy one. Obviously you have a large amount of FP cash, but do you not think a small cash free for a review could be appealing to some forum owners who don't have FP cash and don't have time to earn it?

I agree with this wholeheartedly. Yes, you do need to earn forum currency before requesting, but I'd rather pay with the forum currency mod than pay with real money. A heck of a lot easier this way.

I see what you are saying here Zed. If I was a busy webmaster and didn't have time to make the posts or exchanges required to earn the FP for a free review and if I have the cash available I would be willing to pay a small fee for a review of my website, blog or forum. I would not pay more then $3-$5 though. I don't feel that any review is worth more then that!

Forum point based money? Sure (provided that I can earn forum points simply by posting around the forum, or provide services for others in exchange for points).

Real currency? Absolutely not.

The reason I wouldn't pay using real currency (but I would use FP) is simply:
- Using FP doesn't actually cost me anything. So it doesn't have any financial impact on me whatsoever.

- I'd be afraid the quality of a paid with real cash review would be far too low for what I paid for. (Even in cases with points, I've seen reviewers do a less than great job. They make sweeping claims like "a better colour scheme would make this site look better" but then fail to provide any useful advice. Like in that above example, what that actual colour scheme might be.)

Though even if I had no forum points for a review, there are still other sites or ways I could get a review done. (The Peer to Peer review section on FP being one such location. Sure it might not be as in-depth as a point based review, but if it doesn't cost anything then I'm really not out anything if it doesn't help me.)

If it was extremely in-depth and actually helpful, I would!

Yes. I would pay for an in-depth review and with detailed suggestions for improvements which are tailored to an individual site and not just generalisations. I would want to see some example reviews so I know what to expect and from that I can tell you how much am willing to pay for it.

I would say about $10 a review would be quite good, it's not a lot but if you're aiming it at FP members then it's reasonable because most of them are young students who do not have an income from work.

Ordinarily, I'd never spend money on promotion. But, if the review were going to be posted permanently as a sticky thread on a really huge forum (of the same niche), then of course, I'd pay. I don't think I would be able to afford a large amount. But maybe $20 would not be too much to pay for such a long lasting review.

I wouldn't really, if you can get it for free, you obviously get that. If you can get multiple free reviews, you have multiple free opinions
