I prefer to be early. Being an introvert, it helps me take the time to focus, to Breathe.

If you're not early, you're already late. I hold the same expectations for job interviews, too - I get a lot of people coming in for interview that come in right on the dot and to me, it's a red flag already. Most recruiters I know, and hiring managers, are similar.

I’d much rather be early than on time or late for an occasion. I would never be too early, I’d class to early as arriving 30 minutes or more, to a event. Being early, especially to formal occasions, like interviews, can make you stand out from the crowd to the hiring manager.

I'm often early for a lot of things. But for some reason I'm late to the parties that my mom has and it's probably because she leaves 20 to 30 minutes out of town.
