Would you rather be the absolute best at something that no one takes seriously or be average at something well respected?
The best. I don’t have anything to prove to others; only to myself. As long as I did a job literally well done, that is good for me 🙂
It's how it is right now at this point of time that I'm average at something well respected. Then again who respects nowadays. Most of the time people want to show off how good they are and in the meantime, others do not care.
Most of the people in my real life do not take me seriously most of the time anyway. So it's no real loss. Not everyone is going to respect you. Even if you were really smart like Bill Gates and made millions of dollars, there'd still be people out there who don't respect you. They'd just want what you have. I wouldn't lose sleep over it.
The people out there that are the best in their field are often scrutinized by media and the public in general. I don't know if I'd want to deal with that.
