Would you rather have full control over your forum but no technical support, or have support but limited control?

The nature of the majority of my forums requires that I maintain full control. Having no tech support has never been a problem in 20+ years until recently when for the first time I've encountered a server related issue that I have yet to find a fix for.

I would definitely prefer to have full control over my forum, if something breaks I can always just do my own research and figure it out. I'm stubborn and I prefer to figure things out on my own anyways. xD

Full control and no technical support.

Over the years of running forums, I've learned a lot about the software I use. Then, you have Google, AI, YouTube, and so many resources to help you manage anything.

I just launched a forum the other day, and the email wasn't sending to Gmail users. I forgot how to correct that, so I asked ChatGPT, and now it's all fixed.

I want full control, not gated access.

I'd prefer to have full control. I can always ask a friend or look something up online if I needed technical support.

I’d rather have support but slightly limited control, because having help when things break or need updating saves a lot of time and stress. Full control is nice, but without technical support it can become overwhelming, especially if you run into issues you can’t fix yourself.

I can get help elsewhere, therefore, I look for full control

I prefer full control usually. Either that or some method to be able to move my forum to an environment that I fully control at some point if I wish to.

I’d rather have support but limited control. Most forums fail or succeed based on stability, uptime, and moderation consistency more than extreme customization. Having technical support reduces risk, downtime, and maintenance stress, which lets me focus on community growth instead of fixing infrastructure issues.

I would never give up full control of my forum. I like leading the charge.

Sounds like that side of things is the server/hosting part more than the running of the site

I'd rather have full control. Once you've become accustomed to having full control, you don't want to give it up.

I'm not what you would call tech savvy, so I'd rather have limited control with full support. This is why I always preferred a tech administrator in the past and why I'm on free hosting now.

I don't need technical support, so I'd prefer full freedom. But, then again, I have a lot of experience in forums.
