Poems had so much power. I made a couple of people cry after reading one of my poems, I knew words had power but a poem, didn't think so.

Wow, that is really hard to do. Usually movies make people cry. There is only about 2 movies that almost made me cry. Never did a poem though.

Like everything else, the power something holds comes from the person who is viewing/reading it.

Me, for example, couldn't care less about poetry and had not even the slightest urge to cry from reading your poems.

Honestly, poetry comes across as just words to me and unless it's rhyming and funny, I could care less about it.

There are only a couple of movies that ended up with me almost crying, but poems really depend on how they are first how they are when I read them. Yep, all though it does depend on the reader themselves, it also depends on the writer's thoughts of it.

With everything, may it be poems, movies or a song. It is if people can relate to the wording that they are affected. Your first poem of the two you list did nothing for me. The second did as I can relate to it through personal experiences. It is people personal memories and feelings that make them cry, not the choice of words. Not that I am saying that words can't affect people. Written in the right way any poem can overpower someone, but in most cases it is due to experiences.

I'm shocked and saddened by your poems, not because they moved me but because of the thoughts going through your head when writing them, for someone your age those words are very dark and despairing and it's a tragic shame that you should even be able to think that way?

Very well said my friend. I'd rep you but Internet is being slow.

Believe me, a lot of teenagers go through similar stuff.

🙁 I don't cry often, the most I've ever cried was when the family cat got put down.

This didn't make me cry.

The two poems are really sad. 🙁 I didn't cry reading them, though. Just felt a tinge of sadness. I think those who cry reading them might have been through/are going through a period of depression and have/had such suicidal thoughts, so maybe that's why they feel so emotional reading your two poems.

That shows the bad state of affairs the modern world is in, when I was a teenager our biggest worries were if someone fancied us, how to get rid of a spot before a date, how to get some cash from my mum to go out, who'd have a spare cigarette at lunch time...........at no point did we feel like jumping off a cliff or sticking a knife in ourselves though? 😕

Seems to me, the more the youth of today have, the more they are depressed about it?

Yes, teenagers I guess now have much bigger mood swings as well which is really annoying because it makes you confused :/

Poems can affect people on different ways some are sad some are happy
it depends on the words and how they are written
But I love they way you write your poems Steven

I read that cliff poem. Well, I can totally relate to this, but it would never make me cry...
Life is hard. And watching how others live a good life makes your own life even worse and harder.

The cliff one isn't as sad as the first one, the first one make thick tears slip out of the corner of my eye.
