Is there a way to publish a post but not add it to the main page?

I guess I need a way to publish a post without adding it to Recent Posts.

I dont think there is, but you can do two things for this to happen, one you can set a page as a main page instead of recent posts or you can create that post as a page. Suite yourself. I can only think of these two options here.

I want it to be public, but only viewable if a reader clicks that post's category.

Shamz, I want to keep the main page the same. (with recent posts)

You can sticky all of the recent posts, and then publish the ones you want hidden and they won't show up on the first page. Just sticky and unsticky posts as needed.

I still don't know how to do this

After hours of screwing with it, I gave up for now.

you can try for some help in wordpress support forums :great:

I'm sure Google will eventually give you an answer. 🙂

Might not be what you want, but when publishing a post underneath Publish is the right of the screen is an option to change the visibility to private.
