Hi everyone! I have decided to write a book, it will be fiction but nearly all elements of the story will have truth in them. The book is about pirates, parts of the story will be based off of the story of the pirate James scarfield (originally written by howard pyle somewhere between 1870 and 1900). Although this sounds like a kids book, i hope to make it violent enough (tastefully, of course) to not be too... kiddy. anyhow, i want to decide on this:
shall i base the story in 1st person (one of the crew), or in 3rd person?

I would say 1st person. I don't often read 3rd person books 🙁

Thanks for your input i know a few people who dont read 1st person books as well 🙂 , the info i collect from this thread will really help so please get your opinion in please guys 🙂

I think you should make the book 1st person and how long do you decide to make the book (pages)?

It depends, have you written a story in first person before? Third person point of view can offer a wider range to the scene or to what is going on for your characters than first person.

*agrees*
However, I would very much like to see this as a first person book 🙂

@phuturism I normally write songs+poetry so no, i have written short stories in both before.

Thanks for your input guys 🙂

You should go for 2nd person point of view. 😛 Anyways, I am a fan of first person myself, so go for that.

No 😛 ha 2nd person is weird, yep 1st is probs the best

I guess it would depend on what type of book you are writing. Are you wanting to express feelings and opinions on the happenings then writing from 1st person is the best way. However, if you are wanting to tell a story of happenings, events and how different people are affected then 3rd person is better. If you are an experienced writer you can swap between the two or maybe tell from two different peoples view in 1st person. It all really depends on your storyline.

ive shared one poem on TAZ before, i will get my members @forumz to tell me what they think, thanks for the advice 🙂
