I don't like to vote without remarks of why a site and not the other.
These are not critics but I think constructive notes
FM support
- Untill you go down a bit, you don't know what kind this discussion board is about, I believe a little work on the logo could make the difference (To be honest I though it was a Football Manager forum)
- I believe that nowadays a site must be responsive, on my 24" screen, I see one big white background with a large column in clear grey, it hurts to be honest, either you add something to the background or change the discussion board color.
- As I am an advertiser, I believe that my banner must be seen as static, not moving, even though the effect is neat, business wise, I don't think that's very good, though I might be wrong.
- I love icons, more when I had a couple of drinks and cannot read clearly, Iit's quicker to find what you are looking for
- Clear forum, it doesn't look overcharged like some forums, it odesn't give headache to newbies.
Xbox Live Fan
- Site colors match the subject, header too, though I think header can we worked out, footer is perfect
- Clear, you can find your subjects with ease
- Loads to talk about and forum looks lively with many new messages and help.
- Buttons need to be changed, as said above, I am attracted by icons and I truly believe that a gaming discussion board should have them (this is why pads have letters and colors, easier to remind)
- Ads free, we just forget sometimes how it's pleasant to navigate a site without a single ad on it.
Conclusion: FMsupport is younger than Xbox Live Fan and I believe this is what makes the difference.
Considering that one is a few month old and the other one just a couple of weeks old, it make the difference on what a webmaster knows best for it's site or forum, Xbox Live Fan kknow their jobs, FM support still need to grow a bit.
I go for Xbox Live Fan but I am pretty sure that FM support can develop nto something nice too.
