I just bought a 3 month card for xbox live today.

I've set it all up but im not getting a connection!?

I dont understand why its not working. Ive put all the IP details in manually, checked the cable is in correctly etc but its still not establishing a connection!

Anyone know what im doing wrong?

Reset router (press reset button for 30 seconds.) Also, you should not be having to put in IP manually, it will do this automatically.

Would it make any difference that I am using it downstairs - plugged into the phone connection? Would it be better bringing it upstairs to where the router is?

Im pretty useless when it comes to things like this :/

The way I have mine is in my room and on the other side of house is router. I have a LAN cable modem cord (50ft) plugged straight from router to xbox.

Just reset the router. Its still not worked.

Ill try plugging it straight into the router. If that doesn't work I give up!

No no, don't give up. Sometimes It just takes time.

Sometimes you just got to troubleshoot. I'll try to help you out as much as I can.

Ive just straight it up from the router and it still says the same: Test Status: Network Failed

Hang on, I was using the wrong cable......

And it's still not working

Ok, Do this,
Unplug your modem (if have one) for 15 minutes then plug back in. This will Reset your "IP" Then right when you plug your modem back in, Unplug your router for 30 seconds which resets back to your original local "IP" Now plug it back in. And then try,

If that fails..

Then Turn off all your computers ect.. and only use the xbox 360 and see if your bandwidth isn't loading correctly.

If that fails..
If you have wireless internet do this.. Plug one end of the Ethernet cord into your laptop or desktop and that is going to your xbox so place computer --> XBOX Then load your wireless and there you go! You bridged your connection now it's running directly off of what the computer signal is.

Thanks Raymond. I will try again tomorrow.

To annoyed to do it now, might end up breaking the whole thing all together

No problem my solutions should work if not there's always customer support 😉

In addition to this solution, you will need to go to your active connections, you will see your Local trying to connect. It will not be successful because your PC is not a modem. You will need to shift click your wireless signal and your local LAN line and then right click and select "bridge connections".

My god this is all confusing when you've had a few drinkys. I will look tomorrow after work.

@Forhekset just of our curiosity. Which method worked if any?

I just tried clicking automatic and it did actually work. Don't know why it didnt before. I also tried a different port on my Netgear box

Glad everything worked out for you. 🙂 I think I was one to tell you that you just use automatic 😛
