I personally believe that Xbox is better because most people have it, therefore you can easily play with friends. But Playstation does have more features.
Personally, I like Playstation because it has more (active and exclusive) franchises that I'm interested in. And given that exclusive games are what sell consoles... Playstation is where it's at for me (for now).
Though to be blunt, I'm not entirely pleased with every decision Sony has made regarding Playstation (like online passes... I hate those things with a passion). But they have done enough right that I'll pick them over Microsoft or Nintendo for now.
I can't say that I will always stick with Playstation though (there is the very real possibility that things may change).
Having played on both consoles, I've found myself enjoying playstation alot more mainly because there were a few games I enjoyed that were only found on the PS consoles, also the controller was more easier for me to handle mainly because of the well synchronised design, whilst playing xbox I was finding the controller a little chunky the triggers and the shoulder pads did confuse me a bit in some games but it took me a good few days or so to get the hang of it.
I prefer the Xbox controller and just the whole feel of the console. I started with PS2, but I took the swap to Xbox rather than the PS3 and haven't looked back, well apart from missing out on The Last Of Us 🙁
I enjoy the Playstation much more than the Xbox for hardware spec reasons and exclusives. The Xbox had nothing I was interested in that was solely available on Microsoft's console.
Each console has its stuff that people like about it. Some hate the other more than one for reasons that I find funny, but hey people have their own opinions. I just find it funny that people like to stand up for a console and company that could care less about you as a person or what you have to say about the product.
I play Xbox 360 because of the controller. I play games that are on multi-platforms, apart from a few Arcade games that I find good enough to get into. The Xbox controller was huge, and I was still gaming on my PlayStation 2 at that time, but the Halo 2 multiplayer was where it was at for me. When the Xbox 360 came a long with that newer controller, it was perfect. I was comfortable when gaming and my hands didn't cramp as much as they did trying to use that damn joystiq layout of the PlayStation.
I'm not fanboy, just a person who chooses a console by the controller.
