In case some of you are not aware, the XenForo 2.0 demo is up
https://xf2demo.xenforo.com/

So, with XenForo 2.0, their main goal was not to introduce new features but to duplicate everything that their current version has. What they are doing is re-coding the software from the ground up using their own framework.

There are still some small new features though which can be found here:
https://xf2demo.xenforo.com/threads/whats-new-in-xenforo-2.114/

Anyhow, what are your thoughts on all of this?
Personally, I dislike the new default theme. The category fonts look huge. And I think they could have done a much better job designing a new default theme. Not that it matters much to me anyway as most of the time, the theme is changed πŸ˜›

Please dont kill me for this but i like IPB more than XF theyre getting forward faster, it has more handy features it looks better and more like this for 4.1.17 (Their next release as of writing this):

  • Enhancements to IP discovery tools for moderators
  • Actions for reports in ModCP now show when status is changed as a comment
  • Redesigned support tool
  • More REST API methods
  • Password strength rating and requirement option
  • Guest terms of service alert
  • Minimum age requirement
  • Ban Filters are now Word Filters and can set words to automatically moderate
  • Display name history is now available on profile view
  • Leaderboard
    • New check all box when viewing activity on a member profile for easier moderation
    • You can now hide posts that are unapproved rather than just approve or delete
    • When a moderator changes the status of a report in the ModCP the system now puts a reply in moderator comments noting the change

Not gonna kill ya lmao πŸ˜›

However, this thread isn't about Xenforo vs other software. It's for discussion on the Xenforo 2.0 release. Rendering your post a bit off topic πŸ™

I have seen this.

Some nice new additions but nothing overly new- and will likely come at a huge cost for not very much πŸ˜›

Unlike other forum software, XenForo is not making you pay for the upgrade. So long as you already have an active XenForo license, you will be able to download your 2.0 version

If you don't have one, then it will still cost the same to renew or get a new one as it did for 1.x

Oh thanks for sharing. Glad to hear thos actually- I have seen other software end support and even renewal of older versions and made the users pay to upgrade.

Thanks for sharing πŸ™‚

Yes, it's refreshing to see that a premium forum software isn't charging you for the upgrade.
but nothing overly new
Also, a reminder like I stated in my original post
their main goal was not to introduce new features but to duplicate everything that their current version has.
This is because they are re-coding everything from the ground up. I do believe they are getting rid of the Zend framework

I also think the theme looks awful. The theme just makes the software look like one of those free forum softwares and the new navigation bar looks bad. I don't expect much from this 2.0 though since it is just re-coding the software with their own framework.
