What are your thoughts and plans?

I set up a separate test board and database to start fooling around with it! I'm gonna start preparing my styles for 2.3 so they're ready to import once the update is live!

I have it installed already. Started to mess a round with it. Added somethings in the extra.less for testing. Will get a few more things done soon.

I've already found that I can remove 2 addons most likely with 2.3. TL's Image Optimizer may no longer be needed with native webp support, and I had used Ozzy's logo centering addon previously but I finally figured out how to center logo on test site without the addon.

Got it up on a couple of forums, but I nearly broke my test forum because of add-on incompatibility, so we'll give that some time before we push it again, lol. It's great software, though, loving playing with the new changes!

So far, I've been able to do style variations for a bunch of different games super easily with 2.3 Beta. I can basically copy the default theme I have (Light - Green; Dark - Red) and just change the background and bam, another style. I love how easy it is to do that on 2.3.

Agreed, that's a very neat way of flipping light and dark styles!

Essentially twice the styles, with less options filling up the style selector. And if they have their devices switch between light and dark mode automatically, they can experience almost all of them. 😉

Yep, it's a great way to offer variety without taking up extreme resources. Very clever from XF!

I'm excited for it's release too but they've talked about Xenforo 3.0 releasing this year and that is far more exciting in my opinion. I'll be hyped to renew my license when 2.3 releases but Xenforo 3 is what I'm mainly hyped about.

I'm pretty happy with 2.3, but I'm tempering expectations for 3.0. I think people are expecting it to be a bottom-up rebuild of the code, when that just isn't the case. It'll be the same code with new features and (I assume) a new look. So, keeping the expectations in check, I think we'll see some neat new features, but nothing too much.

They're saying sometime later this year (I'd wager late 2024), but don't necessarily hold your breath for that, timing definitely changes. The popular saying on XF is that the next version is Coming Soon™
