I'll be more eager waiting the release of the other HYS threads.
All this fighting on xenForo, and whatnot caused them to react. Whatever they're doing in the community there, let's gooo!

I can also spy a few new features in 2.3, too. Like the views counter is a widget now.

They in cooperation with IPB MEME

What do you all think?
Mixed feelings. My impression so far is that there's been a failure in terms of the project lead. To spend so much time on a particular area of development without failing to realize that it can't realistically be fully deployed is testament to that.

What's contained in the video is very impressive but there are other aspects of the software that are more in need of an update.

I’m glad that they rolled something out. All the freaking out on the support forum about XenForo dying (and development being stagnate) will be put to bed for a bit.

As for the update, it looks like there’s some cool stuff going on.

I mean, this is only one aspect of what's to come though. There will be more HYS threads being posted over the coming weeks before 2.3 is released.
I doubt they would have lead with the best one.

This is true. Usually the best feature(s) is sandwiched between all the announcements.

The theme the user has? Or the default Xenforo theme?

I think if designers fully utilize newer standards, themes shouldn't slow down the site. What will end up slowing down the sites are the insane amount of addons people usually get installed that ads to the queries.

I agree but it's already been stated there will be no new editor in 2.3 and possibly not in 3.0 either. That's the software's Achilles heel, it should have been replaced a while ago and it's the primary reason why I migrated all my forums to other platforms.

What's the problem with the editor?

I depends on which device/OS/browser is in use e.g. in Firefox you can't type after adding a smiley because your cursor is placed to the left of the smiley although there are workarounds ('END' key if you have one). Samsung phone users have reported multiple issues including not being able to type a reply outside of a quoted post i.e. the reply becomes part of the quote. There are multiple iPad/iOS bugs. The last time I looked there were around thousand unfixed issues: https://github.com/froala/wysiwyg-editor/issues

The main problem I have with it is some of those issues are have serious security implications which go unfixed e.g. https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2023-42426

When I reported this to Xenforo they claim (and I have no reason to disbelieve them) that they sanitize Froala's output which diminishes the issue. That's not good enough for me, I run forums on behalf of household names so I can't afford to take that level of risk.

It seems a lot better in the current state at the community forums. It seems snappier too.

It's actually been like that for a while, certainly before they deployed the current build. There's a thread about it, a lot of members noticed the same but according to the staff nothing had changed. I guess it must be something to do with the hosting because it is impressively fast.

Yes, that's not what I'm referring to. I'm saying that the current editor at XF, which is using 2.3 is working better than before.

But misunderstand me, no problem.
