XenForo and Selling

Hey FP Members,

I bought XenForo in December of 2012 and I am quickly growing tired of it and I would like to switch softwares. While I spent $140 on something that I really don't want to use nor do I want to keep it, can I sell it and let the person have my account rather then transferring it? I just want to get this license off my hands.

Xenforo is indeed a very boring software with always the same stuff again and again.
I guess you should sell it and then with the money buy an IPB license (rather than vBulletin) if you decide to buy a paid software or use MyBB. I personally recommend MyBB because of the awesome customization it offers you.

Yeah, it seemed good at first, but it just doesn't sit well with me. I just miss IPB and everything you could do with it!

I will most likely go to IPB. I just want to sell my entire account because of XF's crazy 120 day rule.

No, however, I want to stay with IPB because I have past experience with them and I would like to have a theme back that I customized.

I very much recommend you to use MyBB.
I think it's the richest software that you'll ever get. I'll help you if you don't have experience with it. I just started doing a forum and the customization and everything is much easier than I expected so I think I'm doing a good job with it.

Try MyBB, it's gonna blow you off my friend.
In my opinion, IPB is like only the half of MyBB when it comes to comparison, features, customization and everything else.

They have a 120 day wait after purchasing a license before a transfer is allowed.

What do you mean by "boring software"?

If digitalpoint is in the process of moving over to xenforo then it can't be that bad.

Yes. But DP is history now. DP was once a great forum, but it lost it's reputation and people there are 80% noobs, only 5% are experts and really good people.
I don't care if DP moves over to Xenforo. Doesn't stop xenforo from sucking and being boring.

Well if you are going to say xenforo sucks and is boring, please at least say WHY you think that.

DP is far from history. lol.

XF definitely could be improved, but it also doesn't suck in my opinion and DP is definitely not history. Xenforo IS the cheapest of the three major paid forum scripts out there, so you should expect it to be a little less grand than IPB, at least. I won't say VB, because that's a whole other discussion. lol.

I can definitely understand wanting to sell and move though. You may want to make a topic in the actual selling forum though so you don't get quite so much discussion as you are now. 😛

Yeah, that's why I bought IPB was because I missed everything about it that XF just didn't have. Also, I did make a topic in the marketplace 🙂

@ShadyX I know that some time ago the DP admin did some work towards moving DP to XenForo. However, do you know for sure that the move is still ongoing and that it is something he is committed to doing?

I agree with you re DP, it is still a very active and successful forum.
