Over a year and a half has passed since work began on a brand new web software platform and a first class forum application built with it. Countless hours of work and extreme dedication to the task, together with extremely valuable input and feedback from a receptive and constructive community have resulted in a product of which we are extremely proud.

Today, twenty months after we began, we are ready to declare XenForo 1.0.0 stable and ready for deployment to production websites.
This stable release is accompanied by our new end-user documentation, bulk discount scheme and a special offer to thank those who have supported us over the past few months.

Since we released our first beta version to the public in October 2010 the community has been extremely busy. A brief inspection of the forums here reveals:

Over 150 add-ons:

Released add-ons include a portal, a custom BB code manager, iPhone and Android applications, bridges to other software, advertising management systems and all manner of administrative tools and helpers.

The speed at which add-ons are being produced for XenForo, and the quality of the code driving them is nothing short of staggering.

Nearly 80 styles:

All tastes are accounted for, with heavy industrial styles, light and airy styles, graphics-intensive styles and technical styles making innovative use of the style properties system.

These styles have been maintained throughout the pre-release phase of XenForo by a wide variety of stylers, and we anticipate seeing even greater achievements now that the software is declared stable.

Dozens and dozens of graphic elements:

The graphically talented have been hard at work producing ancillary, additional and replacement graphics for XenForo, and some of their creations are truly inspired.

Considering that these figures have been reached before the software has even been declared stable, we consider this an astonishing feat.

We extend our greatest thanks to all those who have dedicated their time, effort and money to helping XenForo reach this day. That means all those who have purchased licenses, answered questions on the forums, written add-ons, designed styles, painted graphics, modified templates or written tutorials and guides. Thank you all.

A special thanks must go to our moderators, who have worked tirelessly to give us developers as much development time as possible while maintaining order and civility on the forums.

We have so much more we still want to do, and our development plans are daunting in their scale and breadth, but code for XenForo 1.1.0 has already been written and we are bursting to write more. This is an exciting time for forum software, and we are glad to have you with us.
<br /><br />-- 10 Mar 2011, 12:26 --<br /><br />I have to get updated versions of the mods i have now lol or port them to the new version.

Need I mention the dispute opened up against you by another leading forum software company?

What's your response to this dispute?

Literally, not care. Why else would they file one the day before they had their pre-release sale? Also wanted to bring this back up.

We made the information public so to inform our customers. We have made a concerted effort recently to be more transparent in how we interact with our customers, and sharing details such as these goes in part with this policy. I acknowledge that this attempt to be more open may expose us to being the recipients of a greater level of criticism in the court of public opinion, however we feel that ultimately that approach is in the best interests of our customers.

Then they filed a lawsuit in California...

Anyways, I've upgraded to 1.0.0 as well, they've put in a lot of good work into this software.

Yea they totally took years of work from vb

Not like Percival and Limm (the actual founders of Jelsoft, not Kier and Mike) actually did that much during the vBulletin 3 days (Percival actually left when Internet Brands made the purchase).

They also didn't take any code (nor did they even need to). Think about it for a minute. Rewrites for forum software (there isn't actually that much to write compared to, say, an operating system or a modern PC game) don't really need a staggering amount of time. IPB 3 was a rewrite and so will MyBB 2.0 and phpBB 4, so why would they need to do so?

Rewriting your own codes is one thing but taking someone elses and using it to make money is just wrong and I refuse to support xenforo.

That's not accurate. XenForo is claimed to be written from scratch by former vBulletin lead develops Kier and Mike, with help from Ashley. They are benefiting from a code they wrote themselves, which currently, has not been proven to be stolen. Where have Kier, Mike and Ashley stolen someone else's code, when they wrote the coding for both softwares?

I think that's where vB have gone mad. Because they've moved off and started writing XenForo, and it was, in all fairness, written very quickly, they would immediately think that they were taking code due to the speed it was written at.

It's a logical arguement, just a case of getting the teams to manually go through every file of vB and XenForo and comparing pieces of code....

Good luck to whoever has that job

But one thing that they did, however, use was the Zend Framework (a PHP one). That does save them time because although the framework doesn't have the forum features in it, it does have a few things for user interface and stuff, so then they didn't have to write that much for those things.

Likewise, Frameworks aren't really surprising. MyBB and phpBB are both (if my sources are correct) using frameworks as well for 2.0 and 4.0, respectively.

Your sources are correct.

But regardless, both parties have a valid arguement.

Not really. It shows as well who really was the one that has been working hard. xenForo is essentially what Kier wanted vBulletin 4 to really be, a code rewrite. There really isn't a need for Kier to even use vBulletin code, let alone copy anything off it. Also shows that Kier and xenForo doesn't really need to integrate their software with just about everything possible that could make it money, ie. Skimworks integration.

I tried out the XenForo trial and it was very fun to use. Things were easy to find (I spent about 5 minutes looking at it) and it looked nice. I think it would be easy to get used to and it seemed like a nice software the 'flowed'.

As soon as I got back from my 3 month leave, I upgraded my forum to 1.00, and changed things around. Did a major revamp. I have been with xenforo since beta2, and started using it during beta 3. Cant go wrong with xenforo, And the lawsuit is nothing, I dont want to keep explaining myself why this lawsuit is nothing, if your a webmaster and you stay updated with everything in the forum world you should know. As many do know. Loving Xenforo 1.00 🙂
