As we enter the final month of 2023, we can look back on some of the major news from this year and look forward to 2024.

XenForo Cloud

Our hosted cloud solution continues to delight those who have made the move. During 2023, we have welcomed some big names to the XenForo Cloud system, including BMW Group, Future Publishing and Evolve Media. Both Future and Evolve have migrated their entire forum portfolios, and are now enjoying the high performance, maintenance-free experience that XenForo Cloud provides.

To encourage more customers to try out XenForo Cloud, we will be running a special offer during December. For the remainder of 2023*, new subscriptions can benefit from a three-month discount on the subscription cost. We will also waive the migration fees involved in bringing your self-hosted XenForo over to Cloud, and halve the cost of importing non-XenForo forums into the Cloud system during December 2023.

Subscriptions paid annually will gain even greater discounts.

If you're needing to purchase or renew a XF license, now is the time to do it. They've got a pretty good sale going on, with significant price increases on the way in January. In that topic, you can see the tables showing how the pricing has changed across the board, but $195 is what you'll be paying to purchase a new XF license now.

Thoughts?

So the renewal is only going up by $5? Not too bad but that's still double in NZD.

Have to decide whether to convert FE to a free software next year in March or pay $100-$120 NZD.

@The Grinch don't worry about that, ForumRace will help you with your renewal, keep the good work!

Yes, not only xenforo, everything has gone up.

I sort of regret selling XenForo licenses, but not really. I had six of them. Well, I should have kept one of two of them besides the two I have now. It's because it's very rough to get another one with my income.

XenForo going up via $5...? that's nothing and it's still cheaper to IPB 🙂

I pay like $280 USD for IPB,

The pricing is fair and competitive but I stopped using the software years ago and sold all but one of my licences. The Froala editor caused too many issues especially on one forum where I have a lot of elderly members running Firefox and others using Samsung phones.

I may reconsider when the editor gets replaced but to be honest the software still doesn't contain the kind of functionality that I need for my personal forums. Nevertheless I'll see what 3.0 delivers before writing it off completely.

Renewal is going up $5, but the initial purchase is going up $35. Up from $160 to $195 starting in January. Perhaps that will make all the licenses I'm holding more valuable? 😛

$199 isn't bad for someone with a job and honestly, to save money, you don't have to get renewals right away. Anyway, though, a lot of developers on here, no offense intended and I'm one of them, are struggling due to a limited income.

A little bit of a jump there on a new license. I guess I have a decision to make on deciding between XF and Invision Community with addon selection, to decide which would be cheaper for the first year purchase, for my preference on addons to include right off the bat on a clean installation.

I've just gone through and renewed a few of my licenses. I'll be ready to upgrade to XF 2.3 when the time comes. 🙂

Just purchased one before it was $195. Thankfully.

With December coming to close, I talked myself into renewing the rest of my licenses. I've now got 7 of them, all active with support thru December 2024 or later. Now to actually use them. 😛

I would never pay that for a forum software, but I'm also a coder, and using a free one(MyBB). $200 is too much, even if I would.

And that's perfectly fine, not everyone wants or needs to use a paid for product. Most of us find them worth the expense, the end product more than justifies the expense 🙂

I am currently unemployed, so I am unable to renew my license. But my license is good until early September of this year, so maybe I'll have a source of income before then (hopefully, that'd be approaching 2 years with no income)!

Renewing licenses is optional. XF is a pretty solid software and you're free to stay on your current version indefinitely, even people still on their 1.x.x version have nothing to worry about.
