What is your viewpoint on a website with this specific domain name? I really want to start my own website and have my ownership with a domain name. Is it way better than a website with a .tk domain or what?

.tk is a very bad domain. .xyz is better, but it isn't as good as a .com, .net, or .org domain name. If you can get your hands on one of those three, you'll be doing well. I don't recommend you use a .tk at all, though.

.com is the most preferable one to go with when building a new website. Maybe only the local names go with country specific domains like .co.uk and .com.au

Agreed. In fact, getting all three of those would be even better.

.xyz is okay but I think it is much better to get a .com, .net or .org. It just doesn't look professional enough.

.tk was one of the very first free domains I used when I started trying to run forums, and I was anything BUT impressed. If you had a favicon on your site/forum, and you had a .tk domain, if I remember right, the .tk site replaced your custom favicon with .tk's logo. I seriously would not recommend them at all. As John said, you're better off with a .com, .net, or .org domain if you can afford one of those.

.xyz is certainly not professional.

I've actually banned .xyz emails from signing up on our forum. It's being used by bots >.>

Definitely go for a .com if you can get it like everyone else is saying. Next choice should be .net, then .org

It think the whole thing is subjective. Note, of course, there are certain combos of words and domain extensions which you might find unpleasant, based on preference.

There's nothing wrong with a .xyz domain if your site is going to just be a fun site without wanting to look too serious. I chose this domain extension for LazyForums as I didn't want it to be a serious forum and more of a laid back place.

True, I don't really believe in following the conformist crowd. In fact, I even think a serious site can be built on a strange extension also.

However, though, for marketing reasons, an incredibly serious site, that really needs visitors, might do better with a .com. Myself, I was lucky to run into one recently and I built a forum around it. It was amazing how it was so good and just laying around for anyone to hand-register.
