So I'm re-launching Forum Den with the same premium style as before, but I am going to be modifying the templates to make it more unique. I have already done the following:
Registration
Quick, Simple, Fast or whatever you want to call it, that's how a registration should be. While keeping anti-spam measures in place, the registration page contains the username, password and email fields... and that is all!
New Reply and New Thread pages
I have changed the way these pages look and feel for the end user. As they were, the templates looked quite daunting. All those options, scrolling down the page and more. After I finished with it, all options are now to the right of the textarea, so there is no more scrolling down the page. Everything can be seen all at once.
Profile Pages
I have given the profile pages a slight overhaul. This means that there will be no more empty profile fields shown to you as I have made it so that information is only shown when the user enters it in their profile. A lot of the users information is together, so there is no need to scroll down to see more of it.
Index Page
I haven't done much here as of yet. I have added a custom box near the footer for our FOTM competitions, but other than that, I thought the index page looked fine as it was. I will be making edits throughout the following weeks, but for now, it's fine.
Reputation Comments
By default in MyBB, the reputation comments left by users could be seen by everyone. I have now made it so only admins and the user themselves can see comments. So, you can see comments left on your reputation, but nobody else can. I believe this to be a private feature, so I have made it private.
Posbit
Not much has changed here. The only noticeable differences are that there is less information about the user in posts (which isn't needed anyway) and the information that is shown is in neat boxes. I have also added Facebook and Twitter icons (which you can set in your profile) to be shown in the postbit when you fill them out. I will be making more changes in the near future.
This threads purpose? I'd like your thoughts and suggestions on what else you think should be done. The forum is not open, but if you have an idea of something you've always wanted to see on a forum, let me know and I'll do my best to implement it. I obviously want to make Forum Den a community in which you enjoy and like using.
