What is that one rule you abide by, no matter what kind of forum you are planning on working on?

Or that one rule that you would tell anyone planning on starting on a new forum?

I'd say the actual golden rule is my primary rule. You treat me with respect, I'll do the same for you. I find that most people know how to act online and when posting, so rule breaking really isn't an issue. If you make it obvious that you don't like the site, I'll be glad to send you on a vacation away from it.

As a admin mine is always make new members feel welcome so if they post a intro I always reply

I'd have to agree with this!

Never flame anyone that is registered on my site, either ignore them or talk to them professionally. NEVER EVER flame or disrespect any user no matter what they do.

That is why my forum will go far

No drama in the open, it's taken off line. We do not get that so much on the Music site but wow, we sure had it on phpBBC. Drama seems to be the most prevalent on promo boards. Makes sense, we are mostly site owners and pre-madonas.

Definitely to just follow my own rules, there's nothing more irritating (to me anyway) about a forum owner who fails to follow their own rules.

For me it's respect, you don't come onto my forum and dance around like you own the place and make fun of my hard work.

Goes along with what Demon was saying, my golden rule is "This is my house, and you will abide by my rules"

Always have starting content. I never start a forum without it, and I recommend doing the same to everyone 🙂

Yes i agree wit this. I don't like this too

For staff it's be and stay active. For members it's abide by the rules. lol

When I make a forum, my rule is always: Act like you are a normal member which is not being a power freak, having fun, not being bossy, be welcoming but at the same time help people out on the forum.

My number one rule is to be nice to each other! I have never really liked mean people, I'm sure not many do... but I probably have a bigger dislike over mean/nasty people than others do.
