I have been thinking about starting a new project after my gaming project worked out well and thought about having a site dedicated to coding tutorials or samples where people can submit code samples for specific things in JavaScript and maybe also php.

So for example you could go onto the site and select like a JavaScript tag and look through all the JavaScript samples for like, how to select an element using plain JavaScript. Or for php you could have like, how to find an item in an array based on the value. Things like that.

What do people think? Would you find this useful? Would you like to use it?

That is very difficult to do. I closed mine because it didn't fit my already existing, huge, community.

Plus there is already CodeForum.org which is pretty big for that as well as Stack Overflow, My reddit (r/CodingHelp), and a lot of other subreddits.

It is going to be a very difficult space to break into. I'm not saying it isn't possible, I'm just saying it is hard. Maybe you are the exception to the rule. Who knows.

If you intend to be the primary contributor of tutorials and code snippets, then it has potential. These days I don't think it is a wise business decision to start something and expect others to fill it out for you. I think if you focus especially on creating useful and easy to copy/paste code snippets (like this), that will be your advantage.

I say just go forward and do it. I mean the end of the day if it fails it fails. At least you tried to bring the idea up and fully did the ideal of yours. It will be hard and I say that the content and resources have to be unique that you need to bring to the table that no other site has. Something new and people didn't even know before.

I agree that starting a coding forum is a hard task, but @Puppuccino is talking about a site full of useful coding snippets. I think that sounds like a useful site and, more importantly, it won't be a site measured by user activity. Instead it's all about good content: actually useful and cool coding snippets.

Yeah that’s right, not a forum. A site to share code examples and use as a sort of ‘cheat sheet’ type of thing for developers. Like StackOverflow but the answer is already there in front of you 🤣

Oh, that is different. That could work. I wouldn't mind donating some of the articles I've written. 🙂

I think this would be extremely helpful to those who are into coding. Do you have a name for it yet?
