Members/traffic see your banner in each and every content that you make and if the banner/advert is eye-catching then they click the link, doesn't mean that they would join though.
Yep 🙂
I tried to promote on Facebook and I got banned for 48 hours ridiculous how large they are but can’t help a small forum so signature is one of the best ways I know.
You should see how the digital marketing people are promoting their clients on FB. It is certainly annoying but very effective from their point of view.
Traffic definitely! ...however it doesn't mean automatic conversion to signups or activity. It's definitely worth it in my opinion to utilize the space for advertising if the community allows it. If your content is useful/entertaining and you bring value to their community I find that practice definitely attracts potential members.
Some traffic? Sure! Meaningful content? Not so much.
I have no problems with links in signatures - I use that myself. But I do dislike forums that allow images and banners in their user's signatures because it just looks trashy IMHO.
Kind of. I just have "proud owner and founder of website name since insert year and date the site was first available to public members" a lot of it depends on how active you are on the other forum and the kind of traffic the forum has in general.
It really depends on why I am on a certain forum. I know some forums that I have joined over the last few years, tend to have issues with it, if they are forums that generally don't focus on allowing linking outside of the forum. The ones that do allow advertising in signatures or in a specific board, I might leave a link somewhere, but not bring active attention to it. I usually want to focus my time on discussion, and not discussion for the purpose of advertising.
I think it really depends on the forum your join based on their topic and how it relates to the niche. One of my links here could cater to most people on here and that might be a good promotion tool for it. But the other forum is only going to cater to a specific audience who gets into that sort of thing. If allowed, I try to show my forum links in the signature. But I try to keep it as simple as I can - nothing too flashy.
I guess this depends on a lot of factors.
If you're a reputable member of the site, people might feel interest in checking your website (of course, along with the thematic of the web). I don't really think that being an unknown passive member will get you visits even if you have the link in your signature.
