Every site has one, even this place. What im asking is simple, whats the biggest site in your sites "group"?

For Blue Humor its College Humor. Names are kinda the same, and the content is generally the same. The difference is that as of now BH has a forum and CH doesnt. CH gets quite abit of traffic though, so itll be a monster to beat them. With the correct marketing, support, ect I think it is very possible. I have a friend making t-shirts for BH and giving them away all over CA. Were working on the remodel of course, but we also have tons of plans for other things.

So whats your sites biggest rival, and how do you plan to "take them down" per say?

I don't see how you can compare your site to that of College Humor in terms of rivalry, as it blows your little forum out of the water 50000 fold.

Thats the entire point? Everyone starts out tiny, then you grow. In order to keep up with your rivals you have to know who they are, and have plans to get bigger than them at some point or another. Without competition there wouldnt be anything "good" out there.

Honestly, does it beat me 500000000 fold? YES. I know that. Doesnt mean with the right attitude, and the correct model I cant over come their traffic numbers, does it?

From what youre saying, were screwed form the start. If that was true, why the hell would be ALL BE WASTING OUR TIME?

Some of us, a very few have the ability to make it big and get a million members. The key is never give up hope.

Honestly, with that thinking, I cant see any of your sites going anywhere at all.

I wouldn't be surprised if my forum didn't make it. Webmaster forums are one of the toughest niches to start out in. And I used to own an arcade site, which was another extremely hard niche to get noticed in.

You see, unlike your thinking, if my site fails I can always start over somewhere else.

Not alot of smaller webmaster forums I can rival against, considering sites like DigitalPoint, SitePoint, Namepros, and V7N are the biggest and attract ALOT of attention.

You just have to deal with CH, as College Humor is the only dominate humor site I know.

But that what you want to do? Always starting over your sites, constally trying to make it big but never reach that point? I know theyre in different groups and the competition levels are different, but its still possible. You just have to keep trying and have a better additude about it -🙂-

Doesn't bother me to keep starting over. I've got the money to buy domains, and I don't have to pay for my paid hosting since I work for the company I'm hosted by.

I actually kind of starting to enjoy building up sites a little bit, then selling them.

I currently own a promotion forum and a general chat forum. I am a member of several promotion forums and general chat forums. I happen to enjoy those two genres of forums and sometimes its nice to post on those types of forum without the responsibility of being a staff member. I dont see similar forums as mine as rivals. More like colleagues. I dont wish to "take them down" at all. I wish all other similar forums success and hope for the best for them. 🙂

According to Big-Boards.com, it's IGN ~lol~

But realistically, it's probably NSider2. However, NSider2 does have a lot of ignorant people, like any big forum.

I wholeheartedly agree with Theezy.. I don't think I have any rivals and if I did, who cares? What would it accomplish? In the long run, does it really matter? Is it something that you can tell your grandchildren someday? Unless you are making money with it, my guess is not much at all.

Even if you succeeded in beating the other forums out there that you were in "competition" with, what would you do then? Where do you go from there? Unless you are working for an online advertising business, or for a company that specializes in generating traffic for customer's websites, what would having a big forum say about you in real life?

I am not out to get anyone, and I'd hope that the feeling is mutual.. my objective is to have as much fun as possible and not become as big as possible. If your forum gets 2,000 members an hour, and 10k posts a day, then kudos to you, I really couldn't be happier for you.

If it happens to me, great, that is just peachy, but if it doesn't, then it is no sweat at all.. All that matters to me is that my members are happy to be there, and if they are happy, then I am happy. That's the way it always has been, and that is the way it always will be. I think that putting too much emphasis on popularity, and competing with other boards will only suck the enjoyment out of running a forum.

But, that's just me.

A forum called 'PEEL'. They have been up for 10 years now I think it is and have 1,000,000 posts and 10,000 members. I'm the 2nd biggest though 🙂

Guys, The point of a "website rivalry" is that both sites know about each other. So to be honest if you name something like lets say..

GamersHideOut & IGN...

IGN has never heard of GamersHideOut. So how are we rival's?

But in my case, we are, since there are quite a few people on NSider2 who have heard of Zyetendo. ~razz~

In my forums 'group' i would say something like LetsBeef.com or something, they have an untold amount of members.

Surely ebaumsworld is more of your rival? They are a humour/joke/comedy website AND forum... and have more than 4 million posts - http://forum.ebaumsworld.com/index.php

Or the UK comedy/humour forum chortle - they have over 80,000 posts
ebaumsworld I wouldnt call a humor based forum, strictly because they have more offtoic and general sections than humor sections.

Chortle is kinda the same way...though closer...

I suppose though, in close-ness ebaumsworld would be the bigger of my rivals, considering College Humor doesnt have a forum...

As for you that say "Im just in this for fun" thats great. For most people it should be just for fun, as a hobby of sorts. You may not care so much about having a large site, but I do. See my parents dont understand computers or anything at all, so they think me spending time online is a waste of my life. The only way to prove to them I am actually doing stuff is to show them my sites stats. My brother is in sports and such, nd hes the "favorite", so they think im just a waste of space (theyll tell you that as well). If I can show them "oh look, my sites just hit 100 members and 5,000 posts" then they see "I guess he can do some stuff" and it wins me attention.

Again, if you are just in this for fun, go right ahead, have a blast. However, there are some of us who *need* the attention that becoming a bigger site brings. Its a mental thing at times, because who honestly cares about a small site with just over 100 members...but I care.

If you want instead of this topic being about sites you want to "take down" it can be about sites you wish you could compete with, although then it creates more of a "dream" type label for it, and it seems harder to reach...

I don't know. I know all the big sites that are entertainment forums. And for the smaller ones I don't care about. I go my own way and try to keep my forum as friendly as it has always been. When I go visit those smaller entertainment sites, some do have bigger stats than me. But when I look around why they have them, I often notice bad athmosphere and count to million topics. We got few pointless topics like that on my site, but those don't interest the members. They rather post on the better topics, and that's why I don't care for those smaller sites 😛 Cause I notice the members and the posts are not same quality as mine.

Any forum that is NOT proboards ....

i really wish i would've had a better knowledge on forum providers. i searched, and grabbed the first one i camne across.

I really don't see any rivals for my site, there are bigger general zombie forums but none that really have the type of posting quality that the members show on mine. It's actual intellectual discussion on something that does not exist... really interesting stuff. Most other zombie forums concentrate on books/movies while mine concentrates on more situational based discussion. So it's the same topic, but different points of discussion.

I don't feel that I have rivals but I'd be interested to see sites that consider mine their rival.
