Youtube videos for short movies

This is the new craze of the younger generation here - watching short movies on Youtube. They say that it is like a tv serial where the story is divided into parts like chapter. The movies are usually home made which means there are no professional actors. There is a varied genre to choose from but they have their favorite channels. The short movies they watch are mostly Korean and English although there are some who watch movies with languages they don't understand. I'm thinking that if this craze of the youth would catch fire then what would happen to the mainstream movies?

i dont think anything will happen to the mainstream movies, i think this craze is just a stepping stone to making it into the mainstream category

There are certainly some good short films at are made and uploaded on YouTube. Some of these short movies are real good, and it is viewed by a significant number of users. Regarding the mainstream movies, it would get better as filmmakers would see some of the short filmmakers are creating such brilliant films.
