I think it is worth it if you have promotional videos, as people are bound to find them somehow whether it be by purpose or accident.

For viewing Youtube videos I have never opened an account.

If you do make your own videos, one tip is use a tripod to hold the camera steady, I have seen to many that are so shaky - its beyond belief!

It is also a good idea to buy an external mic if your camcorder have a jack for an external mic like the Kodak Zi8 digital camcorder which has a jack for you to hook up an external mic.

If you are using a webcam, make sure the mic is good, or buy a USB microphone or decent regular microphone which can record your voice load and clear.

There is nothing more annoying then a video with very bad audio quality.

An advertising video for your site would inevitabley draw tons of traffic. I would go for it, especially on a website like Youtube. 🙂
