Are you those type of administrators that don't have any confidence in your forum?

I have to admit, I'm sometimes that type of admin. Every time I create a forum, there's a deep feeling that my forum won't be successful and I start losing confident.

If you have advices for me, please private message me. Please no "STOP MAKING FORUMS" type of advices.

Eh don't have zero confidence. Just keep picking at it because losing confidence helps the loss of interest, the lost of interest can interfere with intelligent posts you may have been thinking about to keep the members of the forum active, the loss of activity kills the community. It's a self fulfilling prophecy.

You need confidence to run a forum in my opinion... or it will never get anywhere.

Eugh. I can completely relate. I've never had any confidence in myself at all. xD

Forums take time to develop and mature, and sticking to them is the key. I know how you feel, I think everyone feels like that from time to time, but as long as you keep posting threads and keep working on the site eventually it's gotta make a difference.

I've had forums that took almost 2 years to get going but it was worth it in the end.

It's very important that you work to get over that feeling. If you don't stop thinking like that, your forums have very little chance of success. Even worse, this lack of confidence will begin to spill into other areas of your life.

Aim for small successes and build from there. E.g. when you set up your forum set a target of getting 100 posts and 10 members. Then do what needs to be done to get those posts and members. This is a target that you can achieve and when you have achieved it, that will be a success. Then set your target a little bigger, e.g. to build your forum to 300 posts and 20 members, and keep repeating the process.

Success breeds success and getting into the habit of achieving these successes will help you to develop yourself into the type of person who achieves success. This is a much better approach than starting out with a goal of building a huge forum and then falling into the habit of failing.

Good luck with it and remember success breeds success.

Yeah. It happens. I lost motivation to run my forum after converting two forums and putting energy on that. Guess what though? Cosmic made his rant and then everything changed again.

I think it happens at least once to everyone. As fergal said, setting small goals to accomplish is a good tactic to use. i have used it, and so far its working 🙂

I only have zero confidence when it comes to a big crowd, but someone once told me imagine that crowd were coming for you, you want it out but what that relates to foruming I don't know.

I had zero confidence when being a radio presenter once for Illusion Habbo as I thought it would get noted on my CV and I was very nervous but that will be forgotten time to come, so really no maybe an odd tip or two.
