Zeta/IF/Forumotion are they really so bad?

I would be glad to, except I don't have an argument. I have an opinion. 😉

Erh....so why are you going on and on with "Still, that doesn't negate my argument". Case in point, an opinion is an argument. It needs to be substantiated, no matter what.

Just to note, those who make have libelous remarks (ie. their opinion), can be sued. Hence why substantiation is prevalent in any argument.

So again, I reiterate, what is your opinion/argument/whatever you want to call it?

I'm not really familiar with Forumotion but I started foruming on IF and moved onto ZetBoards when it came around and I think they're just fine. I basically agree with BlueZone here - from an admin's perspective it all depends on what you need/want out of the forum and from a members perspective, you should give any forum a chance regardless of the host - it's the members, content and community that matters board to board =]

Also @ this link. Unless I'm just misunderstanding some of the features, there seems to be a few that aren't accurate or maybe haven't been updated. As far as I understand IP Blocking, New User Limitations, Guest Posting, Update Notifications, etc - should all be checked 'Yes' for ZB.

But nah, I don't think they're so bad =]

You need a domain name, a hosting plan and a decent script. Anything less is unacceptable in my view, if you really have any plans with a forum. Then a decent design is also a good idea, I'm getting tired of seeing same designs everywhere.

Forumotion is the ugliest forum host ever. It's a damn disgrace to the foruming world. It should just close. Not only is it ugly, it uses PhpBB, which I hate greatly, if you're going to have a Phpbb board at least globally add some useful plugins to your host.

At least ZetaBoards and IF are unique looking.
It really erks me when people advertise a forumotion forum, if you're going to use a free host, at least pick a cpanel host, and upload PhpBB3, it isn't very hard.

ALSO, HISSAE, ZetaBoards does not have back ups. I've been apart of the Zathyus network since the start. Brandon offers no back ups, even to the largest of forums. When Outline was hacked, they were forced to start over. Also ZB is nooby, just because you use it doesn't mean it's any good. And honestly it's just an upgraded and modified version of IPB 1.3, edited enough that credit has no need to be given. Brandon is just milking us all, while he chills at home raking up hundreds of thousands off of advertisements, when he only develops something new for the software once or twice a year.

ZetaBoards isn't a modified version of IPB 1.3.....get your facts straight. It was coded from the ground up which is why it took longer to get done. "IF 2.0" was announced back in 2004 by Brandon, later it was scrapped in favor of offering a new system from scratch because they couldn't legally offer IPB 2.x for free and IPB 1.3 was too outdated to bother modifying 'heavily' as you say. ZB is a custom system, coded from the ground up. 🙂 How do I know? because I've been following forums since 2000. I've seen Invisionfree go through many changes and I've seen the development of ZB over the years. ZB is custom made. It just uses a similar style to it's predecessor in terms of 'looks' because that's what Invisionfree users were used to.

How does that negate anything I can argue? That is ONE SITE and that is all opinion based anyways...

Scroll down the page, it lists all the features zb has compared to two other softwares. Those arent opinions.

That doesn't make sense? it says that Forumotion is built for large comunnities but you dont even get database access or the things you can do if you where on Mybb And i heard a rumour if your forum gets to big Forumotion will close it down because your using up to much of there usage.

I think it meant large community as in a lot of people use it? Could be wrong. That list isn't accurate for ZB, it says No on some features that do exist such as IP blocking, and there are a few others.

I agree with him, first of all, forumotion is a piece of s**t, they just fool their users with their fake mashups of phpBB, punBB(never heard of that software) and invasion and you can't control your files , if you want to run a board, do your self a favour and upload phpBB or ipb via a free or paid hosting plan
That service is not even fun to use.
Also for zeta boards, they are just for noobs, i used it once and i found it dull, and viral modification thing that, it's super buggy work made via JAVA ,half of those mods go broken , in that case i would recommand zeta users to get a decent original IPB and add to it whatever you want, with no any restriction of any free forum hosting.

Out of the 3 Zetaboards is the best one to use, I should know as I started off trying to use Forumotion and it sucked greatly.

Moved to Invisionfree and founf it ok but adding themes was a pain to me and my helper.

Moved to Zetaboards and everything is a breeze!!
It's so simple to use and easy to navigate.

Anyone who says that you need a paid host and paid this can go shove it!
Free forum users are doing just fine thank you very much!! 🙂

Lol you don't have to use a paid host, there are some good free host where all what to do is to generate your ftp account and draw a database using Cpanel and upload your phpbb, ipb, vb, or whatever the software to use.
To be honest i was a user of freeforums.org, zetaboards, forumotion, freeforumhosting and they never let you edit your own header or footer
A hosted proper version of phpBB3 modified by me. That's something you cant do on ff.org, zb, fm or any free forum hosting.
I'm not against free forum hosting but against telling me that you can do anything that you can't do in other hosts, all the add-ons ,mods, snippets those are in free forum hosting are controlled by the host.if you are a begginer in foruming, start in a good free forum hosting which i recommand for forumate. Then when you feel ready to face the world of codes, get your own host.
