Zetaboards, Vbullitin, PHBB?

Hi all I presently run my forum on the ZB software, what is your preferred software and why?

Also if i was to decide that i wanted to change my preferred software how would i go about taking the skin for my forum to the other type of Software?

Having used all of them i would rate them as follows

Best - Vb
2nd - phpBB
3rd - ZB

I never used to like vb but i have been using it lot recently restarting a old forum with it and it has grown on me. phpBB is lot less bloated. vb contains alot of stuff most forums never need. phpBB is simple to use and looks nice and clean. ZB i think is horrible to use. From an admin and user point of view i find it horrible and the look and appearance of it just looks nasty whatever skin you have on it.

As for converting skins it can't be done without alot of work as different forum softwares use different layouts, template names and all that stuff so it will take alot of work to change every template to make it compatible.

Zetaboards
vBulletin

I hate vB as much as possible. Zetaboards also ticks me off. If you need good free software, phpBB will work wonders. If youre looking for something more advanced, or if you just have money to burn, then IPB will suit your needs.

As for the skin, some skins you can find ported, others youll either need to port yourself, or find a new skin completly.

I really like IPB as the features are really good and it looks so professional. It is a really good forum software. vBulletin is also good and you can make it look really nice but I do prefer IPB to it.

I agree. vBulletin has been over-filled with useless things. It also looks fatter to me for aome reason. (Like the board overall, could just be the skins ive seen though) where IPB has everything you need, and only offers more if you need it, which some do and some dont. IPB also has a simpler ACP than vBulletin, atleast to me anyway. phpBB is the perfect mix of the two, combining the simple part of IPB with the addons of vB.

Try SMF, you'll love it. It's very easy to control, and installing mods/themes can be done in seconds.

Yes, it is very easy to make skins for. But its worth spending more time making a forum to have a better AdminCP and post view than SMF, the main reason I don't use it.

I have only ever used the paid IPB, I love it. Zetaboards make me laugh.

No but I am a member of 3 forums that are VB and they have all great good Mods, have try the demo and I think it is great. Also fact I have been told with VB it is esyes to add on Mods and skins. But one of the things I hate is that VB dosen't have good skin for free and fact it cost $100 or $180.

Well I don't think you have expirenced the full vBulletin until you see the Admin CP and install it for yourself.

There are loads of free vBulletin skins.

I like to RUN phpbb forums but I can be a member on any forum software with no problems. -D-

Definately vBulletin. The skins always look clean and professional. Customization is unlimited and the MOD's are fantastic. The Admin panel is complex and great and I just feel guests are more enclined to join vB forums rather than any other type.

phpBB is fine but just screams out FREE to me as they all look pretty much the same and most look horrible.

Zetaboards are my 2nd worst forum software on the Internet, proboards being my worst. I just hate the look of them...especially theposts and topics in a section bit where they are all next to each other in 3 boxes. Looks horrible.

Apparently we have more features on the way at Zetaboard's, quite happy with it now...

We also have the option to chose the premium offer for £17 a month... seems a bit of a rip off as the features offered are pretty basic and can do with out!

May get rid of the advertisements at a later date though!

Yeah I really like VB and when i get more members will look at moving over to that option!
