ZetaBoards

I remember ZetaBoards, never really liked it though. Do they give you the option to export your database for free or even for an additional fee?

That is a limitation of such softwares. Normally once you're established and want to move, you're stuck and have to start over 🙁
If you're fine with possibly violating their Terms of Service, yes, you can convert it to phpBB2. From there, you can convert it.

I just recently moved my forums over to ZetaBoards after having some hosting issues and personal problems with Xenforo, and I'm pretty happy with the choice so far. I'm glad I got a custom theme now and will be making the best out of my ZB experience. 🙂

I was inspired to move to ZB from other forums like Atrium, Otaku Paradise, WeAreTheWalkingDead & Mario Forums. 🙂 I Yes we had to start from scratch but so far I think my staff like the change. 🙂

My main issue now is getting a main page designed around ZB using the webpage maker. 🙂

If you're using the website maker in the ACP, you shouldn't have an issue with the design matching the rest of your theme.

I've never had any issues with Zetaboards. Even when there was down time, it was only for a very short period of time and it rarely happens (at least, in my experience with it).

But there have been some really good communities that have used Zetaboards, all of which Smokey has already mentioned.

As far as free hosts go, I've never had a problem with it.

And I'd argue the designers for ZB are amongst the best out there - there's some really lovely themes for ZB.

ZetaBoards is awesome. I've never really worked first hand with it, but I've been at a few forums and stuff so I've got a pretty good handle on it. I don't really like the User CP that much, though.

Nor do I. It doesn't always seem logical.

I know someone who's working on a chrome extension that changes the organisation a lot though. Something I'm looking forward to being released.

I've never used zeta boards myself. In the future if I decide to dabble in anew forum project I may give them a go.

I've briefly used ZB for a test forum just to get a feel for ZetaBoards and if I'd every use it for a forum. I wouldn't because I don't like how the forums look aesthetically.

I'm a fan of ZB. Wish they allowed a database so you could move your forum elsewhere though.

I could never really pin why I disliked zetaboards. Perhaps I was too familiar with invisionfree?

It's been a long time, actually. Can someone tell me what seperates zetaboards and ips? I have IPS, and will never look back! I'm just curious.

As an admin, I need more functionality and the ability to backup my forum.

If necessary, I could easily pack up my forum & move it to a new host or even convert it to a different software without losing any data.

With ZB you're stuck there forever. Heaven forbid they go under one day, but if they do, your board will go down with the ship.

Also their add-ons are pretty low quality & their wanna-be notifications system is very annoying. I usually disable it on any ZB forum I'm on.

Zetaboards is nice if you're just a regular member casually posting on someone else's forum, though. 🙂

I am on Zeta i been on them for ages, i was on IF boards wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy back as well. I used to do a lot of themes and codes under a different name that is. I then converted over to Zeta, i am lucky in the sense that i have some really good staff on mine that know Zeta a lot in the themes and coding areas and development of the software, i have to agree that it was annoying when the boards went down but i changed mine over to z15 from z11. But i have to say that the support is really good on there opposed to others i have been on. It is a lot different as well, in the themes and coding side of it, rather than plug ins it is all coding, but i find it a lot less confusing, easier to navigate and add codes and the ACP in general is a lot cleaner.

I just want to point out (mostly for the ZB haters out there) that 5 out of the 7 winners in the recent Site Battles are forums hosted by ZetaBoards and none of them even use ZB Premium. And this isn't really a fluke, it's quite common to see ZB forums being the most successful by multiple measurements.

Just saying.

Defensive much? Nobody's hating on it.

And does that really matter? Forum software doesn't define a forum - the way the staff manages and it the community does.

You're right, forum software doesn't define a forum. Some people don't realize that and won't give a forum a chance if it's hosted on a certain software.
