I miss these types of hosts, as it would always allow me to test things out to see if I can still remember how to modify stuff in different types of cheap hosting environments with restrictions.

Never thought the IF/ZB software would end one day, but oh well, I also miss the look of the forum software. Closes thing still around would be the jcink service.

Never used ZetaBoards as an admin but I used a couple very briefly and seemed decent for a free host.

Looks like someone did a video on an old ZB board, if anyone like to see what it was like.
It was part of my life as sad to say it, but it was.
I really miss it, I haven't really done any foruming since it died. I also miss everyone who was on the software, I don't really keep in touch with any of them anymore which is sad.

I do miss Zetaboards, my second forum was hosted there. Honestly my first one would have been too if I found it first, but I ended up finding Forumotion first. :V I used to lurk on the support forum and I know a few members here did too because I recall seeing their usernames. 😛
I never seriously used ZetaBoards, but I played with it plenty back in the day. It was a great free forum software, and I loved seeing so many ZetaBoards forums being highly customized. There were lots of beautiful forums on ZetaBoards.
Such a fun time online when ZB was around. I joined so many ZB forums back then. I miss The Bell Tree forums the most, though! I think it was on ZB and then moved to self hosting down the road. I lost track of it as time went on, so dunno.

My first semi successful at the time forum was on ZB, but I created it at a bad time in my IRL due to graduation from HS and other stuff happening so it didn't last as long as I'd have liked.
I remember the bell tree forums! I believe they participated in the summer event that was held a few times camp something… I forgot the name. 🤣 I loved it!
I forgot the name of it, but yep! How I found out about that forum back then. Think that camp thing ended ages ago too.
I wonder... could a free forum host that mimics the look and feel of Zetaboards take off in this day and age? There's not too many unique free forum hosts out there, there's proboards, a few different free SMF hosts, Forumotion, and Boardhost. Other than that, the only one out of those that uses their own software is Proboards. The other ones use free forum scripts.
Yeah! I recall one of the last ones they did, I didn't join in it at that time because I was busier than normal during the summer. It was such a fun concept. All I remember was that I was cabin 2 I think 😛 Or 3.
There is also Jcink which is very similar to invisionfree - which is the precursor to zetaboards. They have converted some beautiful themes where appearance wise is similar to Zetaboards.
Oh yeah how did I forget about them.
*facepalm* I love their service, it's honestly my favorite free host. That may be the closest we'll get to a true "successor" to Zetaboards.I think I was too at one time. I also applied for staff a few times but never ended up getting it. The name I wish I could remember.
I was staff for one year I believe. I went to my forum to look for the name. It was Smash Camp!
