I have always been morally opposed to Zoo's as I do not believe that it's right for creature's that were born and meant to be free be held captive in any kind of enclave solely for the purpose of someone's profit's. Many disagree saying animals don't have the intelligence to realize they are captive. I say that's more reason that they should be free.

Do you think I'm full of it or do you agree?

But, some animals are too weak to be in the wild because they have a disability like only 3 legs, or poor health, and will most likely be eaten by bigger and stronger animals.

There are also baby animals who lost their parents because of hunters which won't survive in the wild without parents caring for them.

I think animals who are too weak to survive on their own should be in a sanctuary, or rehabilitation center for injured animals, so they can be free when they can survive in the wild.

If there are no sanctuaries or rehabilitation close by, the best option will probably be a zoo since they will be cared for instead of dealing with being eaten or harmed by other bigger animals or nature.

I believe in Darwin's theory of evolution. It has a thing called "Natural selection".

Also PETA is all over this topic. And I don't like PETA.

Depends on the type of Zoo, there are two types, Zoo's which keep animals for our entertainment, and others which keep animals for rehabilitation, keeping the species for breeding programs when they are endangered, i don't mind those types..

I don't mind zoos which breed endangered animals as well , so they won't go extinct because of hunting, pollution, and predators.

Zoos can also be used for educational purposes like teaching children to not throw their junk into the forest, ocean, or parks since animals live in oceans, forests, and parks.

I agree. What you are talking about is an animal sanctuary where injured or animals on the endangered species list are taken to help, their not there to charge people money to come and look at the animals.

Having been out and seen animals in their own natural habitat (lions, elephants etc) I do find it difficult to see them behind bars and in a circus, thank goodness the majority of circus' don't use these types of animals any more (well not in the UK)
I couldn't face sea life at Disney Land either?
Zoo's and wildlife parks are more for our entertainment and recreation than the good of the animal, without these places the majority of us would never have seen a real life elephant or Lion or the like....I know that these establishments have breeding programs and do world wide exchanges and help to maintain populations of species but it still sits uncomfortably with me, and no I've never taken my kids or grandkids to a zoo.
