Oh wow! What a pleasant surprise! Thank you for the honor to be given the spotlight this month.
What prompted me to share my experience with an animal-based diet through this forum?
In a word - results! I have been a yo-yo dieter all my life. The only thing that ever worked for me was low carb/keto diets that I first learned about when my neighbor in the late 90's gave me a copy of Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution. I read it and applied it and had great success. But then over the years, life throws you curve balls. I would start eating the standard American junk diet again, got married, had kids, gained weight, lost some, gained even more, etc.
In recent times, I started to have health complications. Gout, high blood pressure, skin tags, arthritis, ulcerative colitis, pre-diabetes, kidney disease, etc. I knew that I had to make a permanent change now, if it wasn't already too late. I returned to Keto and started studying, again, human nutrition. I eliminated grains, sugars, and vegetable seed oils (and so should everyone). Then in time, I started learning about plant toxins, self-defense chemicals that they use to try and defend themselves from being eaten. Some humans tolerate these toxins, and some don't. I decided to try going pure carnivore for 90 days to see what would happen.
I lost 50 pounds and have kept it off. I reversed my hypertension. My ulcerative colitis is a thing of the past. My skin tags disappeared. I no longer have joint pain and I have the energy to do things as if I were in my twenties again. Needless to say, I am both sold on this diet (not that there's anything to actually buy, lol) and elated, and want to share my experience with others and help them to achieve similar results.
I've been a forum junkie forever, and have had one going since 2006. I looked for a "carnivore" forum on the web and there were only 2 others, one that never lifted off after being set up and has been abandoned, and one that had a little activity at first but is now dead as a doornail. Both suffer from owner/admin's not being present in their community nor promoting it.
So I started Carnivore Talk because this is a niche that NEEDS to be discovered, because this way of living can really help turn lives around for the better.
