If I buy one there do I set up the nameservers for the hosting site or do I gotta host with them for me to use it?

You can set up Name servers with them and host somewhere else 🙂

Proof - I paid for this domain http://www.phpbb3designs.net/

As you can see it is parked with Netfirms right now, but I have tested everything and it works just fine.

Too bad you won't have that domain for long.

As a fellow webmaster, i would advice all those registering their domains online to avoid netfirms.com – they are thieves. We had recently registered our domain on their site and with proof of purchase and a receipt later, we realized the domain has been sold to someone else half a day after our official purchase! I would recommend many other domain providers, but that seem like i’m endorsing them, i merely conclude to beware when dealing with this India based IT institution. Last word of advice, if they realize the worth of a domain after you have purchased it, they will revoke their claim and purchase it themselves, so that they can later resell it. Managed hosting

They have been running for over 25 years, if they were so much of a scam, so many people wouldn't use them.

I would like to buy a domain, but I don't really have any ideas now 🙁 Cheers for telling us. They must be quite happy with all these customers (and this is just one source of customers).

Usually when something is too good to be true, it usually is. These reports are just icing over the cake.

As much as I want to be skeptical, rival domain registrars do make false claims in order to get the traffic to their site instead.

We all know GoDaddy is quite well known yet: GoDaddy Scam
Or even Namecheap Scam

Shotgun - It's a special offer for them for being online for over 25 years, it's for a limited time.

With these scams, check other providers.

Results 1 - 10 of about 38,700 for netfirms.com scam
Results 1 - 10 of about 197,000 for godaddy.com scam
Results 1 - 10 of about 44,900 for namecheap.com scam.
Results 1 - 10 of about 3,160 for dynadot.com scam
Results 1 - 10 of about 5,340,000 for 123reg.co.uk scam

Compared to other providers, they rank pretty well.

Well, aslong as they dont take anymore money out my bank, im fine. Its only $1.

Also, it said on paypal 'you agree that netfirms can take renewel funds out of your account without permission, you can however terminate your account at any time'

Or something like that. But thats normal..ish.

Yeah, but you can turn off auto-renewal on your account. Therefore, they will never take any if you unless you want them to.

Oh, then thats ok. I have just recieved my domain, am just setting up on my webhost to see if it works.

Looking good so far. Great share.

I had to do that Tayne, Basically I just edited my dads first card. to his new one 🙂

Apparently it's because your paypal isn't verified thats why you need a credit card.
