Firstly thanks to Fergal for letting me post this.
In 2013, I will be competing in not 1 but 13 official 10km races over the year. This was officially launched yesterday and the challenge is called 13inthirteen.
The challenge is to complete one official 10km race a month and to also set a PB at each race. One month I will have to compete in 2 races so I can hit the magic total of 13 races. The aim is to raise a total of £2013 for the NSPCC.
For those who don't know me my name is Richard Hayes and I'm a 30 year old from North Sheffield, this year I managed to lose over 4 stone in just under 4 months. This was partly due to my fondness for running. This year I have already completed two 10km races and I will be doing another one on the 2nd December.
The NSPCC is a charity that I have a lot time for and with my new found love of running I wanted to do something that is different and will get people talking about, this will hopefully raise a nice total for the charity and raise awareness at the same time.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
You all can help by either liking the Facebook or Twitter pages, spreading the word on your sites and social accounts or by sponsoring via JustGiving which anyone world wide can donate to.
