A close community?

Have you ever Joined a forum, and found that they all the regular members just talk to each other, And talk about things in the past, Its as if the community has gone too "close" and is kind of pushing new members out?

I've seen that happen before. When I joined up with the Backboard on backstreet.net at the beginning of last year (2007) everyone was going on about how it used to be in the old days, back when they had so-called "psychos" and they were talking about how popular the "BackChat" used to be... so yeah, I've seen this happen before.
