Abortion

Legally speaking, if a 3mo was born and then killed, would it be murder?
(I don't know the answer tbh)
I don't think so because if it were murder then many abortion procedures would just be totally illegal in every case.

You said that if birth then kill was illegal, then most abortion procedures would be illegal. And my point is that if it is illegal than why is that Philly dude being prosecuted?

He killed them after viability. He was aborting 6 month ,7 month, 8 month, etc. And plus he is not even a gyno he's a family practitioner

He killed them after viability.
Still, he was killing something that was alive.
That's like me going to the ICU and unplugging the vents saying that old ladies aren't viable since they need a vent.

I don't think you can fairly compare an old lady on a ventilator to the aborting of a 3 month old fetus.

How so? Both need the assistance of something in order to live. Neither are viable.

Well there's a chance the old lady is going to live if you take her off the ventilator, theres no chance for a 3 month old fetus.

But regardless of that, in both situations, the relevant individuals make the choice of whether to keep alive the person on the ventilator or on whatever life support device. ie old lady's husband makes the call if she gets taken off and the fetus' mother makes the call if it will be carried to term. Do you think we shouldn't allow family member's to decide if people who are braindead or will be vegetables for their whole lives to just die peacefully?

I think DNRs and such should be in use, but I've seen tons of people get off vents. Nearly every heart surgery patient that I know of has had to be put on a vent after surgery. While they are on a vent, they definately aren't viable. Same thing with people in extended comas (ie Chi Cheng who has been in a coma for well over a year).

Regardless though if the medical professionals say that said patient on the ventilator or whatever other life support device is not going to make it, the spouse or parent or child (if it's like a 90 year old guy whose wife is dead I believe the child makes the call?) should decide. That's what happened with my cousin. He was on life support for over a week and there was no hope, so my aunt decided to have him taken off life support and his organs were donated and saved two lives.
