Neither of the themes you have shown are very good. You can find far better.

Also move the forum, /Upload just makes you look silly.

The current theme isn't custom enough. 2-3 edits doesn't constituate you calling it that you have a custom theme.

Get Kavin to make you one. He does cheap themes and offers good communication.

I am also open for MyBB design jobs but Kavin will be cheaper so he's your best bet for a nice looking forum for a good price.

I did have a theme that kavin created for us, i might need to ask to get our theme again lost the backup.

The Theme doesn't matter that much.

I know a few forums that use that default mybb theme and still became successful a webmaster forum might different.

Those forums are mostly just a spam bots second home. A theme is very important, it's the first thing people see when they visit your forum, hence the first impression which is always meant to be the best impression.

I wish you luck with your forum, but I am done joining your sites. You can't keep a site up and running smoothly, obviously, and you leave too many gaps lying around. This can't continue and I am officially done. You've begged me before to give you another go. I considered it and eventually refused, and I am glad I did. Seems reputations are beginning to precede some folks here.

Here is lesson that is crucial. As a site owner you must never make a public display no matter what is being said. You should be professional and counter with appropriate discourse. Once you get caught in Drama, it's hard to shake it off you.

I was always told, if you do not want something repeated do not say it or write it down. If it does not pass the Washington Post test as we Americans call it, then it's not worth it.

Lots of site owners are known for Drama, known for poor leadership and lack of professional regard and a multitude of other things. The objective is never to get classed into that group. Same goes for members, lots of internet Drama starters out there and in the end, what goes around comes around.

Best way to not get sucked in, is be calm about things and deal with heated issues off line.

@Nathan DP Is way older then us if you look at the wayback machine you know that all sites start out boring. As time goes on we will build on remember we are not DP nor claim to be part of being unique 🙂

Going to Modify a few themes for 2 more days then going on to posting content.

My advice is, "Don't ask people to give you chance", because you don't have to. If few people (including me) are tired of the open/close pattern by you and don't join your forum, it won't be the end of the world.

You still can get others join your Forum. For that you should have a forum up for a considerable amount of time (atleast 6 months) without any issues or downtime.
1) find a decent host, as your current host seems to have lot of downtime. Go with established ones Hostgator, Hawkhost, etc.
2) Decide a theme before you open and once you open a forum, do not change the theme often. When i ran Script Installs forum, we had plenty of discussions, previews and bug fixes before we introduced a new theme (v2 theme). You can see ShadyX doing this in admin forums.
A theme represents your site, so you should not change it often, without any reasons. Only change a theme when you have a solid reason, and that too should be done after your older theme was used longer. From what i had seen in your previous sites, you change theme too often. That should be avoided as it shows your site is inconsistent and it will confuse your visitors.
3) Find a unique concept. If you have categories and descriptions that every other admin forums have, then obviously people won't have a reason to choose your site.

And no matter whether you get members or not, you should post around and try to keep the forum alive. You can do this with dummy accounts or post exchanges. Do not complain after a week or month that you don't get any active members, because seeing the amount of bad impression you created with open/close stuffs it might take even an year to get people trust you.
And do not give hacking, downtime, etc; as reasons for closing a board. A good webmaster will keep his site up inspite of all odds. When you are hacked, find the cause for the hack and correct it. When you have a downtime, make sure it won't happen again, or change host.
