Adsense Alternatives (a guide by Andy)

We don't really have our ads in visible places as they are only on view forum and view topic mainly and are only at the bottom so not many people notice them.

Oh okay. On my forum I have them at the top under my banner and in the footer of the page for guests. Registered members only have them in the footer.

I just signed up for CJ and got affiliate ads for Big Al's and other pet related places. I get a percentage of the sale if anyone clicks them and purchases anything. I don't think I'll get anything from those but I'll leave them for a month or two and see what happens. I'll probably just end up removing them.

We just want to make enough money really to cover the costs of the hosting and the domain which we do... If we upgrade our hosting then we will add the ads in more visible places.

Probably do -lol-

Ours is only $2.99 (about £1.50) a month which we make easilyevery month to pay for -lol-

Hostgator are quite good and the price isn't that bad although you are paying alot for bandwidth and space that you will never use. We have alot less space and bandwidth then your plan so that is why we pay alot less.

Also they aren't fully using Cpanel 11 with all the features i noticed from the demo -bigeyes-

Yeah, I have way more space and bandwidth then I really need. I'm also not on the base plan because I have more than one domain.

According to the HostGator forum they are using latest stable version of cPanel 11. Their demo is what my cPanel looks like. Although, I saw on their forum you can request an update or something. I don't mind the sytle of what I'm using now.

What features are missing ?

Yes but many hosts use the old theme over the new cpanel so you don't get the new features like the demo on HG's site and Lunarpages -😉-

Oh okay. I didn't know the theme had any other features. Hostgator will change your theme if upon request. Maybe I'll do that.

Edit: I had my theme changed. -bigeyes-

I quite like the new file manager as you can zip folders so it is easier to backup just one directory like the forum.

You get a little pop-up where you select what format you want it compressed in (zip, tar or Gzip ect) and the name of the file and where you want it saved.

As per phpBB3 everything you click always results in a message saying are you sure you want to do whatever or something like that. Nothing seems to do anything without another screen.

A great ad program I like is matched: http://www.matched.co.uk (UK only I think)

it is a flat rate of £3 per month per ad

it is amazing - so far payment has been instant each month via paypal. I only have it on a few pages and get around £42 a month from it. (that is 14 ads 😉)

you get a free £5 on sign up aswell

they seem to accept any site, regardless of traffic too

worth a look!
