Do any of you here use Google Adsense? Do you like it? Why or why not?

I've made a bit of money with adsense. More money can be made, though, by selling ads directly.

I use something like PublicityClerks to sell ads. AdSense is very poor money, and you can be banned right before a payout if Google says so. I don't recommend it at all.

So far my community has been ad free and since we are working on a non profit fan game, we won't likely have ads too.

I use it since it's easy to setup, I know that I'm going to get paid, and it's really straight forward on what is allowed and what is not. Unlike other ad companies which may pay you, you know what Google stands for and how they treat others.

I have Adsense on my forum in conjunction with other networks, I think that works the best for me personally. I think Adsense is great besides lack of communication (not a surprise though with them being part of Google), and sometimes you can get warnings/infractions without there really being a good explanation.

Google AdSense is a program that allows website owners and bloggers to earn money by displaying ads on their site. Here are some potential pros and cons of using AdSense:

Pros:

  • Easy to set up and use: AdSense is a relatively easy program to use, as it provides a simple code that you can insert into your website or blog to display ads.
  • High earning potential: If your website or blog receives a lot of traffic, you can earn a significant amount of money through AdSense.
  • Wide range of ad formats: AdSense offers a variety of ad formats, including text, display, and video ads, which can help you monetize your site effectively.
Cons:

  • Low earnings for low traffic sites: If your site does not receive much traffic, your AdSense earnings may be low or non-existent.
  • Competition for ad space: If you have a lot of competition for ad space on your site, you may have to accept lower-paying ads or have difficulty finding advertisers.
  • Lack of control over ads: As a publisher, you have little control over the types of ads that are displayed on your site through AdSense. This can be a problem if the ads are not relevant to your audience or if they are offensive or inappropriate.
  • Possible decline in user experience: Depending on the placement and frequency of the ads, using AdSense on your site could potentially lead to a decline in the user experience for your visitors.
Overall, whether AdSense is a good or bad option for you will depend on your specific goals and circumstances. It can be a good way to monetize a website or blog, but it may not be suitable for everyone.

I have bene using adsense for over a decade, I like this ad network. I have made more money with adsnese than any other ads, including affiliate ads.

I do like using Google Adsense. I currently use it on the forum that I co-own and I am also looking to use it on a forum I am working on now as well when I am able to. I have made some money from it but not enough for a payout yet I keep pushing my sites out there and seeing how it goes. I would like to offer the selling of ad space at some point but being that we use Xenforo at the moment, that is a paid addon and not something I have the funds for at the moment.

I use open source forum scripts because it will keep my cost down. My forum running cost is just the renewal cost of the domain (I have a hosting package that allows hosting multiple sites, so I do not have to pay additional money to host my forum). When the operational cost is low, your profit margin will be high.

These are good ways to keep costs down!

AdSense is reliable and predictable revenue once you have a stable CPM and CTR, but I find their payouts fairly low, and it's hard to make tangible revenue through them. Directly selling ad-space is always the best money maker

Yes, you make more money by selling ad space. However, finding advertisers is really hard. You might try ad marketplaces like Buy Sell Ads, but your site needs tons of traffic before you can get approved on ad marketplaces.

I was using Adsense years ago. Was actually making pretty good money and was close to another payout, when it just vanished. Not sure what happened. I just now logged in, and it's like I never had an account, so I registered again. Never before thought to check out what happened.

Adsense is best viewed as a revenue source to fill in the gaps between other revenues. Not every page can have affiliate links, not every month will be great for your ad sales, etc., etc. Adsense is always there. Adsense is also indifferent and can play a role in specific communities that may receive poor feedback from their users if they pick up sponsors or take sides.
