Well, it depends on the situation on why the adult child may be living at home. I know of a few that got married, and in order to build up some money to be able to afford a deposit on an apartment or a future home, they went to live with parents till they had the money saved up to do so.
That doesn't really cut it for many. In fact, some might even be so extreme as to not allow something like chronic illness or disability as an excuse - but that would be the minority.
Anyway, to the cynics credit, some are not saving up for a home - or are taking their time.
in today's world that things are so expensive that young people can't afford to pay for things. even if they had three jobs it will take them time to buy an apartment. Those that are gone to collage they have to rent away from home and those locations have high rent
Why is it people like Michael Savage can't see that? In their view, the young lads haven't tried hard enough.

just because someones still living with their parents at 25 or 30 does not always mean they have not tried hard to get a job and make a living....
BUT if someone has been living in their parents house their whole life and never tried even a little to make a career and do something with their life.... make themself useful... then yeah, i agree, they are a baby and need to grow up

I was out of my parents house at 18 and haven't had to move back in thankfully. But I do understand the money aspect of renting or buying apartments. Which is why I 'purchased' instead of 'renting' my second apartment. With the market the way it is now, even if I did want to move? Selling my apartment and using the proceeds to go elsewhere would be a huge risk. New environment, new neighbors, new surroundings. If it doesn't work out or I end up hating the area - I can't just move back because I would have sold the place to a new owner.
I do think people who still live with their parents have good reasons for doing so but that's their business. I am not one to judge. I am however very fascinated to know the stats of people 18 to 35 who live alone versus who live with a roommate. It seems most adults have moved out of their parents house at some point. But how many of those are able to afford to pay rent by themselves? Without a roommate. This is the real situation for many people out there. Once that roommate decides to leave or not pay their share of the rent anymore, you lose the apartment. Then it's back home with the only people who'll have you, your parents.

I don’t judge. I’ll just say though that if you are living with your parents, still in the best as it were, you really should try to forge out on your own if you can. There is a big, wide world out there with so many possibilities. You will be happier.
My parents separated when I was 5 and the divorce was finalized when I was 6. I lived with my father for 3 years and didn't get along with him, nor did I get along with his wife. So I moved back in with my mother when I had just turned 15. By the time I was 17, I was going through a rebellious stage. I had anger issues and was constantly being kicked out of the house because I didn't get along with my mother or her husband. So I moved in with my grandparents and stayed with them until I was 19. I had a job and I moved out into the country a little over 7 years.

I'm 29, and I still live at home. Even though I'd like to move out one day, I don't think I can cope, for a multitude of reasons. Having a disability is one of them.
Don't take this the wrong way and I'm also disabled but it seems like web development, particularly with forums, is the ghetto of the disabled.
However, it's a pretty interesting way of living, though.

You can't just assume that someone is still living with their parents in order to mooch off them. Besides having a disability, the child may be living with their parents in order to help their parents do things that they need help with.
Well, also they assume the person is lazy and plays video games all day (or watches porn or something) - when actually they do chores. The arrogance of working people is off the charts!
Honestly, someone at home all the time would get bored without at least at-home work. For some reason, fun and games has no future (It's not a project where you can better your life) so has limited appeal to adults.

That's because playing video games all day isn't something that is meaningful. I mean, yeah it may be fun, but it doesn't provide you with a sense of accomplishment or anything like that.
Yeah, I was reading in Psychology Today or something that people would rather paint artwork on the the top of the ceiling for years, as experience pleasure.
Well, at least in my hometown, a cult revolves about being a Marine. But why would people want to do that - knowing how painful it is?

Define that age group here? Most like myself are not able to afford to by or rent out own home, The cost of living is going up, job allowance is just crazy for some! I mean in the UK we get low as £7.80 a hours.
