Afraid to -rep staff

I've been on several forums where the members were afraid to -rep/smite the staff because they thought the staff would retaliate and ban them. I know some would say 'then they aren't good staff', but it's not always the case. It could be that these users have had bad experiences in the past, or that they're new to foruming and have never experienced this before.
 
I would be mortified if someone -rep'd me as I would never give them any reason to. :shrug:

I would hope that they would talk to me first so that if there was an issue it could be resolved between us.
 
Heh, I don't mind people minus repping me as long as they give a valid reason. Like if they don't like how I run my board they are free to contact me about it so that I can find a resolution to it.
 
On Forum Promotion, I do not believe a staff member would be able to get away with punishing a member for smiting them. On smaller forums, staff members are more powerful and occasionally slightly irrational because the forum's memberbase is not as large.

En general, if you are banned from a community for -repping a staff member, it's not only the staff member who is out of line - the forum is probably one you're not going to enjoy participating in, either.
 
If the staff member truly deserved being -repped for something really bad, then yes. But, if it is something small, then I would send them a PM talking to them about it first to get it resolved instead.
 
If someone -Rep's me then thats fine as long as they have done so because of something that I have done. I know a few members on here that have -Repped me because they got annoyed that a digital number decreased.

I do care about my Reputation due to the fact that if it goes down a lot when it shouldn't people will think that I am a bad member. I bet a few members on here no for sure I'm not that bad a member.

Anyways, I have -Repped a few Admins on here before. All of them deserved it. I'm not going to name people but I only use the Rep feature if I need to increase/decrease someone's Rep.
 
I find that for majority of the time, staff get -Repped for punishing a member, from the member that got punished - Whether they deserve it or not. I don't agree with it, it's pretty spiteful.

Although staff aren't always in the right, nor are they perfect so if they do something wrong, they deserve to be -repped like any other member.
 
I've had to -rep a staff here before. I don't think much of it as they are just another member with 'higher' permissions.
 
I would give a person a - rep only if they use unnessary language or openly admit to something they do which is illegal.
 
Absolutely. I don't know if it would be considered "fair use" though. Might have to sing it in Norwegian instead 😱

I dont give out negative reps because that just causes too much drama.

I get why people take it so seriously. Its just a number on a forum.
I had people ask for their accounts to be deleted on my old forums before just because they got a negative rep. :roll:

:rofl: :lol: I've had my rep decreased a couple of times (One was a stupid reason that they couldn't get into my forum :lol: ) and I have been increased. I don't care about it and I don't really care about how many posts I get. I just post to be apart of the community. :happy:

- However, as of this post I am 153 off 1000!
